Lets assume they start fielding offers to trade down....

Do we offer them #2 and a player (just as an example, Peterson?) to move up to #1

no. absolutely not. we CANNOT afford the extra millions of dollars to move up one spot. its just too expensive.

I want Suh as much as the next guy, but im not breaking the bank for him.

As far as St. Louis, i agree with your post earlier. Their last three picks are Carriker, Long and Smith. All lineman. Frankly, they need some electricity on that team other than SJax and Bulger is not very good. I just doubt they want to go 4 straight drafts with line players as their first rounder. Not that it isnt a good idea, because building in the trenches is the way to go. But especially with Carriker and Long being not too impressive, they have to be leary.

If Clausen impresses, i would bet its him.Keith Null aint the asnwer there, thats for damn sure

I wonder if Okung might peak their interest as well?

Doubt it. It's either QB or Suh for STL.

Hmm, Shanahan and Washington plan on drafting a QB with the 4th overall pick and STILL keep Campbell, so STL can't move down if they want the best QB available.

I'm not worried about that anymore.

Washington might be smart to offer the Rams Campbell+others for the #1 pick....

Plans can change.....

I wonder if the Lions could trade Julian Peterson for a 2nd rounder? From Mayhew's comments, it sounds like he might try to trade/release him....

I doubt it. If they trade him for a 2nd it would only piss me off, because that would mean we could have traded him last year for even more with one more year left of him. We badly needed to dump JP THIS year, he was too good for us, yet not good enough to make the playoffs. When you have players like that, you HAVE to sell them before they depreciate to a value of zero. There is no logic to not making the playoffs, and then not fighting to make the playoffs for future years if you can't do it in a present year. The Lions have no concept of strategic planning. They wing it and fly by the seats of their pants, and they constantly make bad decisions. You just can't win that way w/o getting statistically freaky luck.

I haven't heard Mayhew say anything on Peterson, so I can't be sure... but I don't see why they'd release him. We lack talent. He's one of our best linebackers. And he's one of the vets helping to teach our young guys like Levy.
