I hope we dont do something silly like trading for Dorsey, than picking a lesser player based on need. We NEED talent

Agreed to an extent. If Suh is there, draft him... but if McCoy is there, draft Berry or Haden.

You probably have a point and i kinda forgot there that having two pass rushers like that wouldnt be a great idea. Suh and Dorsey would be a helluva team. But yeah, if we go get Dorsey and Suh is gone than Berry or Haden, whoever we rate as the higher prospect

Ice - I've said in the past that JP to a 3-4 team makes a lot of sense. He just fits a 3-4 better. Other guys I thought the Chiefs would have interest in would include Fluellen, Grady Jackson, and/or Zack Follett. Have they come up in discussions as well?

If we trade for Dorsey, like Ice said, it opens a lot of doors....

1) We could take (Suh or McCoy), Berry, Haden, or Okung
2) Because we have so many draft options, this opens the trade down door to get more picks - make up for trading #34
2a) If we trade down and get multiple picks back, we might be more obliged to dangle a 3rd/4th rounder for a player like Cromartie or McGahee.

If we trade for Dorsey and Suh is gone.... go for Joe Haden. A shut down CB (like Revis) is more valuable than another pass rusher. We can draft another DT (and CB) later in the draft

DE: Jason Hunter
DT:
DT: Glenn Dorsey
DE:
OLB: Derrick Johnson
MLB: DeAndre Levy
OLB: Ernie Sims
CB:
SS:
FS: Louis Delmas
CB: Joe Haden

I honestly haven't seen a lot of Haden, but sounds like an elite CB prospect....

I'm warming up to the idea of this trade. I really think it could help the Lions at the very least as far as assets go. I think the switching of LBs and later round picks put the trade over the top for the Lions.

I still worry about how it affects the draft though.

Any way we give the Cheifs multiple later picks in this deal instead of our #2?

JP
#3
#4

for

Dorey
Johson

Any way we get to keep our 2nd rounder would be ideal IMO.

Iceness - any update on any possible Dorsey Deal? Earlier, you stated this deal was close to being done. Now that the combine is complete, has anything changed?

Would absolutely LOVE something like JP, #3, #4, #5 for Dorsey/Johnson.

We keep #2 overall (Suh), and our 2nd rounder....with Suh (hopefully), Dorsey, Johnson, and our 2nd rounder, we add 4 new starters to the team.

LOVE the idea of a Suh/Dorsey pairing.

No way Mayhew gives picks away. He's a guy that wants to stock pile picks.

and my dad slapped sense into me. Suh and Dorsey / McCoy would prolly be a bad idea.... since that would leave Suh as our nose tackle aka space clogger and not giving him the freedom to do what he does best. And ideal DT pairing would be Suh and Dan Williams or Suh and Shawn Rogers.

But who knows if this deal is still going. Off season doesn't even officially start until Friday.

IMO, Suh/Dorsey would be sick. Who do you double? They would wreck havoc on every single play.

It would be like the old Dana Stubblefield/ Bryant Young 49ers pairing...

Or the John Randle / Henry Thomas paring in Minny

They would create openings for everyone else. DE's, LB's would all have a lot more room to operate.

Shaun Rogers and Ndamukong Suh.... all I'm saying.

No updated words on Dorsey, but truthfully I'm working on something else right now and the Lions unfortunately are out of my circle at this moment. Hopefully I'll get to talk to someone over the weekend.

I've heard it from Killer Kowalski and I heard it on Sirius NFL Radio today that Kyle Vanden Bosch is all but a Detroit Lion by the end of the weekend. He makes a very good band-aid at RDE and I think he'll help Sims playing behind him quite a bit.

I'm real curious how aggressively the Lions pursue a free agent RB. I know they will be in the Thomas Jones bidding but I suspect Houston and some others will offer more. One to watch is Willie Parker, who should come a lot cheaper than you might think. Pittsburgh essentially dared him to test the open market and he'd rather take less $$ elsewhere and prove them wrong than go back there as a 3rd stringer. I think he'd fit the offense nicely.

Thank Iceness, much appreciated, as always.

Any way we could get you to share what it is your working on? If not, no biggie, I understand...

Still like the Chester Taylor idea more than Jones/Parker - although I wouldn't be upset with any.

I've always liked Vanden Bosch, think he'd fit in nicely here...

I was also wondering if you heard any rumblings about Dorsey going anywhere else? Is Detroit the only place rumored to be interested in Dorsey, that you know of?

Again, thanks Iceness!

Chicago wants Dorsey, and Tampa will be involved for the right price.

At this time of year I am contracted with an NFL team and basically I create hundreds of mock draft scenarios for them to help flesh out the draft. I create all sorts of if/then situations wtih picks, trades, etc. Already I've done about 70 and we're only through the first 6 picks. Most every one of them has the Lions getting Suh at #2 or, if the Dorsey thing goes down, sliding to #5 and getting Brandon Graham or Derrick Morgan or even McCoy in a couple of scenarios.

FWIW I know the Lions have zero interest in Jason Pierre-Paul, and for that we should all be grateful.

Agreed, I'm not too big on taking huge risks in the first round with guys that haven't played any football yet. Do you have a place we can check out some of your mocks? I never can get enough mocks, I'll take all ya got! ;)
