Bengals claim RB off waivers from Lions Cedric Peerman | # | RB
The lions must be getting better players when teams are picking off our players on waivers.
The 5-foot-9, 210-pound halfback was Baltimore’s sixth-round pick last year. He played in the preseason, then was waived and claimed by Cleveland on Sept. 6. He spent four weeks on the Browns’ practice squad, then was released.
Detroit signed him to its practice squad and later promoted him to the roster for a couple of games, although he never carried the ball.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns claimed defensive back DeAngelo Smith off waivers from the Detroit Lions.
Smith made 28 career starts at Cincinnati, where he recorded 126 tackles and 12 interceptions for the Bearcats

Re: lions players being claimed by other teams
Well we over-invested into the RB position for present time, so that only makes it more likely to shed a useful prospect for another team. And after the CB reach pick, we still don't have any elite players or prospects there, and the glut of mediocrity just gets fatter and squeezes out the last man in. We also happened to have a large roster count that had to be trimmed in the very near future anyhow. 80 is the limit for the preseason.

Blah, blah, blah TSE. The lions sometimes wind up with good players that just don't fit their system, but more importantly to this Peerman is a practice player. Considering this will be his 4th franchise since being drafted in 2009 its not exactly like we are losing some amazing player.

Re: lions players being claimed by other teams
That will be Smith's 5 team since the 2009 draft. I had high hopes for both of those guys pre-draft but obviously neither has worked out. Smith is a CB/S tweener that doesn't do well on special teams, kiss of death. I still think Peerman can stick as a #3 back somewhere but again those roster spots go to special teams contributors and he was not doing that.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

either way, he traveled a lot. With Peerman, I mean honestly. We "lost" a RB who didn't play for us last season when they needed one. Says a lot about the player.

I'll pick Higdon as my sleeper out of this group.

Re: lions players being claimed by other teams
The Detroit Lions have claimed wide receiver Marko Mitchell off waivers from the Redskins, the team has confirmed.
Mitchell, a Port Huron native, is a 6-foot-4, 218-pounder with good speed whom the Washington Post called a “fan favorite” in D.C. Although he caught only four passes for 32 yards in 10 regular-season games last year, he caught 11 passes for 113 yards and three touchdowns in the Redskins’ final three preseason games.
