^ They gave up 1 KR for a touchdown. The other was called back by an obvious block in the back by the Redskins. Yes, their coverage was horrible in that game, but it was one area of special teams and one game. Overall, our special teams have improved a great deal this season.

Rex Ryan is talking alot of crap so far..... seems like the lions have caught his eye on tape. SHould be a good game. I hope Linehan exposes Revis and Gunther can do something to slow down thier run game. If Sanchez has time in the pocket to throw, he'll mess up and turn it over.

It's a winable game, but we need to be exceptional in alot of areas. Let's see if our guys can pull it off. Should be a good one.

Here are the Lions rankings in special teams.

Average punt return allowed: 8.8 yards, 15th in the NFL - Not great, but still in the top half of the league.

Average kickoff return allowed: 20.8 yards, 7th in the NFL - Pretty good.

Average punt return: 13.1 yards, 5th in NFL - Very good.

Average kickoff return: 28.3 yards, 4th in NFL - Very good.

We also have a very reliable kicker whose only two misses of the year have been from 44 and 55 yards this season.

I would say the Lions have one of the better special teams units in the league. Are they prone to making mistakes now and then? Yes. But the return game had fueled both of our wins and the one thing the Lions have never had to worry about has been their kicking game thanks to Hanson.

And the real problem with the punt returns is that the Lions are constantly punting from their own half of the field. It isn't easy to defend punts when the punter has to boot the football as far down the field as possible, the tacklers don't have time to get down field on kicks that are low like that.

I see the lions winning 27-17 as long as we slow down the jets running game.
I think the lions have finally turned the corner and teams will be looking out for them.

They need to go to Tight end Tony Scheffler more in this game open up thre middle.Pettagrew drops to many passes what up with that ! but at least he caught one in the end zone last week .

The key to this game could be the running game for both sides of the ball ?

There is a wider difference in the two teams' run defenses. The Jets have only allowed two rushing touchdowns so far, while giving up about 89 yards per game, compared to the Lions' eight TD's allowed and 130 yards per game

With Stafford back the Lions' offense is really coming together. As long as the defense can stay serviceable the Lions should be fairly competitive for the rest of the season.

Julian Peterson is a veteran. A guy who has been around the league for quite some time. And he is going to take a late hit penalty like that?!? AARRGHHH!!! There has to be repercussions for all these penalties from the coaches at some point

The coaches don't care about penalties thats way the lions keep on getting them.even on the game winning field goal there was a penalty on the lions
