I would like to thank Jim Harbuagh for running a quick pitch to the weak side with 10 men in the box on 3rd and short.

15 penalties on SF. Must be something about Ford Field 8-)

Backus had better recover the fumble when he gets beat by a rookie like that.

And now that 2pt conversion attempt could come back to bite us in the arse. C'mon Lions... We need a big special teams play right now. Get us some field position.

That was awful. Stafford going sidearm was painful.

We had opportunities. We simply did not play well. If not for all those SF penalties this could have been much worse.

We've still got a prayer here after getting the ball back...but for all intents & purposes this game is over. Streak had to end sometime, but this is disappointing.

Definitely deserved to lose considering all the penalties on SF. Niners were better, period.

I couldn't be more disappointed in Linehans gameplan. It was simply awful. Not a good week from the offense as a whole, Stafford was off again and threw way too many checkdowns

And I cannot begin to reiterate how bad Jeff Backus is. Smoked constantly. Jason Fox MUST start when he gets healthy, because this **** is getting silly

Well reality check indeed. We had tons of opportunities to win that game. Still hoping for some moves before the trade deadline. Keep in mind that we almost are completely ruled out for the 2-4 seeds, if we can't beat GB for the 1 seed, then we are the 5 or 6 seed. To peel off some of our decent players for trade material is a good time and value standpoint to shore up some of our big picture future needs.

And because we lost (and Atlanta won) I am now rooting for NO to beat Tampa Bay. Winning would have given more cause to shoot for the moon. That window has been stalled from it's raise.

I want to hear what really went down, but I think the way Schwartz reacted says a lot. He kind of paused at first and thought about it before going after him. Schwartz is fiery but he's not an idiot, he's not going there without being provoked by something Harbaugh said or did. Remember Pete Carroll having a similar issue with Harbaugh at Stanford?

Having said that I thought Schwartz should have shown more class and maturity. There's a time and place for playing to the crowd but this was not one of them, not after you did an embarrassing coaching job and your team got beat by a sloppy team.

Missed the 2nd quarter on....I guess I'm lucky.

1st quarter points - Stafford missed (overthrew) open guys on the 1st couple drives. He needs to learn to be a little more accurate with that bug arm of his, especially early in games when his adrenaline might be overwhelming him.

D still has a hard time stopping the run. I'd like us to use the wide-9 technique on passing downs ONLY. Seems like other teams gash us between the DT and DE on 1st down quite a bit because the guys are 3-4 yards apart. Way to easy to run it up the gut there unless the DT beats a triple team quickly.

With the coverage being rolled to CJ, not sure why Nate or Titus were able to take more advantage of 1-on-1 matchups. Worrisome.

At least we have a full week to prepare for Atlanta this week. Another run-heavy offense we will need to focus on shutting down + Abraham vs Backus....could get ugly.

Does anyone else see stafford constantly back peddling. he never steps up in the pocket , plant his foot and throw. He misses the opportunities that he needs to make, granted our OL didn't help him much. This is what happens when CJ's not always there to bail him out.

Because of Stafford and Detroit special teams that was overrated and now they come down to earth and realise they need improvments in many areas in order to beat top rated teams in the future.

But we have no plan in place to fix those areas. Mngmt doesn't even know what our problems are in my honest opinion. That's really the key anchor to our team is that Mayhew while he hasn't completely sucked, he really has dropped the ball bigtime and let us down. We have had so many gifts of opportunities to get good players cheap and we squandered them away and we aren't nearly as good as we should be if we would have set this team up right just even one year ago or two years ago. If we did things right 5 years ago, we would be a 16-0 threat every year for the next 10 seasons. This is really disappointing to me that our team lacks the vision and understanding of how to manage the overall operations.

Return to Detroit Lions
