From what i understand, Heller is garbage.

We need a TE soooo bad its insane. Our TE's last year were the worst in the league easily, and this year is looking similar

Listening to some guy on ESPN radio talking about Cutler and the Lions... he said that Detroit is the most likely destination, with Detroit not being sold on anyone at #1 and not wanting to spend the big $ on that pick...

Getting the #1 pick for Denver will be a great PR move for them and is a gamble that could pay off huge.

It would likely be Detroit trading #1 and possibly a later pick for Cutler and #12.

Seems like it could be a good move for Detroit?

See that actually sounds good. I was under the impression that Denver would just be giving up the unhappy Jay for the no. 1 overall. I'm more confident in this trade if the 12th pick comes to Detroit. Not what they'll do with it, just that they'll get another pick to draft someone with.

Per wiretap, Lions signed offensive tackle George Foster and center Dylan Gandy to one-year deals on Monday.

So the Lions have signed a LB and OT this offseason. Hmm.....

I wouldn't read too much into either move. Dylan didn't play last year and Foster was a Lion.

Per wiretap, Lions claimed WR Will Franklin off of waivers from the Chiefs. Thoughts?

Young guy, 4th round pick, who even did a Kick Return.

I was kind of wondering what this teams depth chart at WR was going to look like. I hope this team keeps John Standeford. I just think he'll make a good solid depth receiver.

Being an Eagle fan, L.J Smith is very injury prone and is not a very good target but maybe he could step on a team like this.

The Lions have signed Ronald Curry and Terrelle Smith. Smith is a decent fullback from the Cardinals. Ronald Curry was a career Raider. So we have an ex-Cheif and an ex-Raider among the WRs....that should work out well.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4142484

Seeking to add depth, and perhaps create some training camp competition, the Detroit Lions have added a pair of veterans, neither of whom played in the NFL in 2008.

The team confirmed it has signed defensive end Eric Hicks, and guard Toniu Fonoti to one-year contracts. Financial details were not immediately available.

Detroit also released tailback Brian Calhoun and wide receivers Travis Taylor and Steve Sanders. Taylor was a first-round pick of Baltimore in 2000, but his NFL career has been a disappointment.

Seems Hicks and Fonoti were added for training camp purposes and to get a good look at them. Not a big splash, but eh, what the hell.

Lions signed Ephraim Salaam.

I like more LTs, he could compete with Backus and help develop Murtha

I like the signing. Salaam has superbowl experience and choose to come to the Lions. He can play multiple positions and just might be the player to move Backus to G. Not too mention what nadiroo did, he has alot of knowledge that can be passed on to the younger guys.

Reading detroitlions.com, there is alot of good talk out of these training camps. Louis Delmas is showing strong leadership and is bringing the defense to life. Players are anxious to learn and to grow. There is alot of good mentoring being mentioned by some of the vets Mayhew has brought in, including Peterson, Buchanon and Henry.

Jim Schwartz has been very pleased by what he has seen so far. It sounds really good. Now all we gotta do is wait and see how it plays out when it counts.

I'm not exactly sure. I've seen him play a few times, but I don't know much about him. He never stood out to me though. Who knows.

Was going to post about another player, but this came up http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=a ... &type=lgns Jon Jansen is up there, but I actually kind of like it. Another take a chance move.

Brian Johnston, a waiver claim Defensive end from the Chiefs, was the guy I was going to talk about.

Return to Detroit Lions
