A thought for filling our weakside backer in the second..Daryl Washington, TCU
I was reading a scouting report on him after looking for LBs and he kinda seems to fit the bill of where and what we are looking for. and a sub 4.6 40 is kinda sexy too

Rams traded Carriker to the Redskins to move up in the 5th round. Campbell did not go to the Rams, but it could affect our draft.

I bet Mayhew is looking at Sean Lee. HIm and Washington are the 2 best bets unless we can somehow snag Weatherspoon.

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
Its only been recent years where I've really followed the NFL draft beyond day one. The Lions currently have no picks between 100 and 213. So what I'm wondering/thinking;
Is it safe to assume that the Lions will make a move to get a pick or two in that gap?

Give that man a prize--Sean Lee is very high on the Lions list. I really doubt they would go after Spoon just based on the fact they coached him at the Senior Bowl and I know he drove a couple of their coaches crazy with his mouth. Spoon can play though, don't ever let it be said that I don't think that.

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
Well if what Icness is hearing comes to fruitation, we can cross our 4th rounder off the list as well. He posted in the draft section that the Lions are talking about trading their 4th and swapping 7ths for Willis McGahee. I actually think it's a good deal. Lions don't have to take a RB early and can focus on CB/LB/OT with their 2nd/3rd rounders.

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
the lions have to take a RB with the second pick hands down. my choice is
Jonathan Dwyer (RB)
Height:5'11"
Weight:229 lbs.
Arm Length:31 in.
Hand Size:8 5/8 in.
College:Georgia Tech
He is a one-cut ball carrier that will stick his foot in the ground and hit the seam at full speed. He shows good balance on contact, runs through his share of arm tackles and shows surprising speed for his size. He is the kind of back that most teams are looking for

Dwyer is falling fast. I wouldn't be shocked if his name isn't called 'til day 3.

Cool, so do I get a choice of prize or is there a default? I hope it's not free curly fries at Arbys.

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
Dwyer is fat and ran slower then some FB's and TE's. He was only productive in college because GT ran that loopy triple option offense. It's equivalent to playing basketball for D'Antoni.

He'll be there in the 4th, if not later. Basically what bartender says--he's slow, fat, and comes from a gadget offense. He's a slower Ron Dayne, and I say that as someone who really liked Dwyer back in Sept.

I'm still on strike against Arby's for axing the homestyle fries. Those were great, the curly fries suck balls.

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
The Detroit Lions are looking for a running back and Best might be available at the 34th overall pick. I asked someone in the league (who is heavily involved with the draft process) about the possibility that the Lions might pass on Best because of the lingering health issues.
"You can't believe a word of it,'' he said. "You can't trust anything that's being said right now. Anybody who says anything negative about a player is a guy who wants that player to slide because they want to draft him. If you don't like a player or really think he has some issues, you talk him up and say how great he is because you want somebody else to draft him

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
Detroit has brought in plenty of prospects for workouts, but MLive Lions Insider Tom "Killer" Kowalski thinks the team is most interested in California running back Jahvid Best.
"Assuming that Jahvid Best is medically cleared, then I think that he's the guy," Kowalski explains in the final installment of MLive's NFL Draft Expert Interview Series. "I think he's a difference maker, and if you look at the moves the Lions have made for this offense, to me, it really kind of falls flat if you don't have a running back who's really an upgrade from what they have."

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
I've been high on Best for a long time. His concussions do worry me, but I'm still not concerned enough to pass over him if he's the BPA. Every player, especially RBs, are at risk for concussions. It's apart of the game they play. I wouldn't be upset if he was the pick at #34.

Me neither. Though i would prefer to trade down in the second and still grab him. Him or Gerhart or McCluster are all actually fine with me..i like the RBs this year. But Best gives this offense (except for a LT and assorted O-line parts) the final touches it needs probably and it will be a deadly one

Now contrary to what you may have heard or read," "this is not the greatest draft since 1983. I think it's an average draft.
"Some areas are very strong – defensive line, tight end, defensive backfield – but I think there's a real lack of depth at offensive line, quarterback, running back and linebacker. It's a three-round draft. You have to maximize what you get in the first three rounds."
Detroit has the second pick in each of the first four rounds, which will give it access to the draft's top talent. After that, it has four picks in the seventh – nothing to write home about, but at least the Lions have multiple opportunities to uncover a hidden gem.

Phil Zaroo's an idiot. The OLine, LB, and RB depth is great in this draft.

Re: 2010 Draft prospects
Bartender your wrong this is a bad draft for running backs and everyone knows it.that's why the lions have to pick a RB with their second pick.Otherwise there a chance they will not get the running back they want in the third.
Lions have to get 1 of these 1 with the 2nd pick and 1 of them will be available.
Running Back
CJ Spiller, Clemson
Ryan Mathews, Fresno St.
Jahvid Best, California
Ben Tate , Auburn
