Tuesday's trade of defensive tackle Adam Carriker to the Washington Redskins (for only a switch of fifth round picks - 135 & 163) suddenly opens up a gaping hole in the middle of the Rams' defense that could be filled by either Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh or Oklahoma's Gerald McCoy with the first pick.

Previously it had been believed that the Rams could not or would not take either of the defensive tackles with the first pick of the draft due simply to the fact that they'd placed so many dollars already into the defensive line.

By trading Carriker, the former 13th overall selection of the 2007 draft, the Rams, however, don't have the same restrictions.

The Rams will still probably take Bradford, but still...I don't like the waiting game.

Carriker wasn't a big player for them. Rams fans will even atest to the fact that moving him for peanuts doesn't really change their needs at all.

I would have slept more soundly had Bradford signed a contract with the Rams already..... but I'm still hopeful that Suh is our guy. The only way I don't see the Rams drafting Bradford is if they trade the pick to someone who will.

^ I hear ya. Especially if we spend that 2nd and 3rd on a CB and LB. Maybe Washington in the 2nd and Cox in the 3rd?

They won't do that, they are perfectly content at staying at #3 and getting McCoy without paying #1 money.

Hellz Yeah. That D-line next year is going to be destructive...absolutely destructive. Everyone wanted to trade down but for real Suh is a franchise changer
