Well Stafford probably won't play since the Bye is after this week. Calvin might not play just to rest him until we come back form the BYE and we're on the road against a good (but unspectacular) Giants team. I'd like a win, but I'm expecting a loss. I want to see a hard fought game though.

I read somewhere that Stafford is already ruled out of this one. Don't remember where though...

Does anyone know what is the weakest link on the lions as of today ?

My guess is the Linebackers ,They lack impact linebackers

LB and CB are both excellent guesses, can't really dispute either one, but I would lean towards CBs only because at least we have Levy at LB who is young and has potential, and we have some talent at CB but Alphonso doesn't count too much since he was a free gift and we still need MORE CBs. Plus, we still could have Dizon and Follett and Palmer next year who really haven't had a chance yet to prove what they can or can't do, and we won't have unseen CBs by that point. Next year our top 3 picks should go either CB-CB-LB, or CB-LB-CB. Not opposed to throwing an OT there in the 2nd round if there's a good value, but the draft in 2012 is supposedly very talented at the ILB position, so we should get 1 LB upgrade next draft, and 1 more the year after, and at least 2 high CB upgrades between this draft and next. So a total of 2 CBs, 2 LBs, and 1 LT should be our 5 strongest picks of the next 2 drafts, with the 6th best pick going to FS, and then let Spievey represent that we have strong depth at CB/S. I wouldn't mind trading our 3-7 this year (packaged with a dozen or so players we need to move on from that can still be worth a roster spot to other teams) for one single high pick and next draft do it again, so we could have 3 stud picks each of the next 2 years to get 6 new premium prospects at those spots.

And if the price was right, I would love to trade Stafford and Best to fill up 2-3 of those spots and come back to QB and RB later just because I think that some teams out there will give us generous deals for those players that we can't afford to pass it up. CJ might even have to be traded if he's not itching to re-sign, and by trading those 3 guys we could squash that needs list and have a better time replacing those 3 guys than worrying about the other 6 holes. You have to sell players when you can and the iron is hot for all kinds of trade possibilities that could be much better for the team if we can look at it logically and with an open mind. I'm entirely convinced that our best odds to get the best results are going to be a major reorganization of trades one way or another, as there are many possibilities, but within those choices lies our optimal path. Although for those of you who don't want a major roster shake up, don't worry cause Mayhew is totally not going to do it that way. He's going to stay the course for sure.

I love the thought of trading our only proven talent for more young unproven talent. LETS DO IT!

Isn't this the Giants game thread? How did a random aside about LBs come up?

We have lots of talent left, like Suh and Delmas and others, and you are way off base for claiming that Stafford is a proven talent, he could be good, or he could be a bust, we don't know yet. And CJ isn't "our talent" if he doesn't intend to re-sign for a long-term deal. So yeah let's do it, cause we will end up with more talented players that you will learn to like than what we already have and thus we will win more games with a better collection of players as most fans will interpret. By the way, I never got an email from you that one time you asked for my address, what was up with that I'm just curious?

Well Kellmellus just asked a question, it was just a couple posts above, pretty obvious.

Oh ok, I just saw an easy answer and figured I'd take the extra points before anybody else claimed them. :) But, did we ever clarify the gender of Kellmell, I thought that was still a mystery, or did I miss that one?

i missed that one too TSE,
But let back to the lions and the giants game many of our linebacker are injured for that game and the giants could plan to use the Tight end more against the lions linebackers to try and take advantage of our week spot..

Lions re-signed Vinny Ciurciu for depth at middle linebacker and waived injured Spencer Havner (hamstring). Ciurciu was with the Lions throughout the preseason.

Starter DeAndre Levy (ankle) has missed four games and will not play Sunday

Landon Johnson replaced Levy in the starting lineup, but he left Sunday's win over the Rams with a concussion. Spencer Havner took over for Johnson late in the first quarter, then suffered a hamstring injury in the second half.

Lions are expected to start Ashlee Palmer at MLB tomorrow. I expect Ciurciu in there right away and lots of rotating with Ekejiuba, Palmer, Ciurciu, Peterson, Follett. I wonder if we call up Caleb Campbell due to injuries.

According to twitter reports, Calvin will play today but Stafford will be back after the bye. With Calvin in the game, the Lions have a chance. A small chance, but a chance at a win. I just want a hard fought game on the road. I'd be THRILLED with a win though.

Lions are so perdictable on offence run 1st down run 2nd pass third .DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

After the lions got the first touchdown they went into a shell and tried not to lose by playing too safe, now down 7-14 maybe they will pass more?

We seriously gotta cut down on the penalties. It's like we are trying to lose sometimes...

Stanton has been decent. His pocket awareness kinda blows though. That second fumble he gave up I think he would have sat in the pocket for half a minute if he could have. Gotta get rid of it young man

Thoughts out to Follett too. Hope he is ok

Well we got shafted again by the officials, several bad and ticky tack calls on us, and the Giants got away with a bunch of stuff. Obviously we have some other issues that we could have done better on, but well it is what it is. I just can't believe Burleson couldn't show enough presence to secure that ball when he was going to the ground, that was the killer.
