The Lions claimed rookie quarterback Zac Robinson off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday.

Robinson, who played at Oklahoma State, was drafted by the Patriots in the seventh round (250th overall) of the 2010 draft. He signed a four-year contract but was waived by the Patriots during final cuts.

The Seahawks probably hoped to snatch him back up to their practice squad if he cleared waivers, but the Lions claimed him instead

The Lions announced a handful of moves Tuesday, signing kicker Dave Rayner and releasing cornerback Jonathan Wade and center Cody Wallace

In the second game of Robinson's 2007 sophomore season, he became the Cowboys' starter at quareterback and went on to lead his team to an appearance in the 2007 Insight Bowl. After taking over the starting role, Robinson recorded 847 yards rushing and 2,824 yards passing and combined for 32 touchdowns. His 3,671 total offensive yards set a school record. In that season, the only other player in Division I FBS to rush for at least 800 yards and pass for 2,800 yards was Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow.

Robinson led Oklahoma State to the 2008 Holiday Bowl his junior season. He finished the 2008 regular season with 562 yards rushing with 8 touchdowns and 3,064 yards passing with 25 touchdowns

Robinson was at the Senior Bowl last year and here's what I recall:
--throws a better deep ball than short ball
--more agile than he showed at college
--arm strength is only average
--antsy feet, likes to move a little too much

That actually reminds me of Drew Stanton 8-)

Not sorry to see Wade go, he just wasn't working out. Much like the Seahawks wanted Robinson on their practice squad, the Lions are hoping Wallace can stick on theirs.
