Just want to see Stanton play to try and salvage SOMETHING positive out of this meaningless game. I'd even rather get Zak Robinson into the game and see what he can do if he wasn't the emergency QB.

Zak Robinson would be interesting to see,
i am surprized to see the lions run so much and get knowhere they need to pass more to set up the run.

I'd also be more interested in seeing Graham Harrell than Hill. Plus Harrell is on the Packers PS so nice to take somebody from them. We should cut Hill and then give Stanton/Robinson/Harrell the whole rest of the year for 3 shots at somebody emerging to be worth something. I just don't think it's realistic to trade Hill for anything after the low price we paid to get him and how there are so many free QBs that have more interesting upside than him anyhow that also cost less. Oh and Nate Davis is still on the PS too, he could be an interesting pickup.

The lions game was to predictable it was to hand off to best 1st and 2nd down pass on third and throw it short and the buffalo bills know it.Same old lions.
Last year they lost to a winless team and this year they did the same, coaching sucks again.
two point coversion they should have rolled out the QB either run or pass to calvin in end zone.
Lions had 11 penalties for the game for 60 yards.

Scott Linehan really sucks at calling plays. We'd be better off with a random lottery selection.
And it looks like the Dolphins lost Pennington AND Henne to season ending injuries and are rumored to sign 2 QBs this week, they should pick up Nate Davis or Graham Harrell if we aren't going to. I still can't believe Shaun Hill just threw a floater way out of the endzone, what a loser. Oh well, it's good for our draft pick position. If Dallas and SF win today we move from 5th to 3rd in the draft, with both 1 win teams losing to us on tiebreaker for the moment if they catch us. Come on 1st pick!

Because there's progress just about everywhere but in Detroit at the moment. Of the 10 worst teams in the NFL last year -- at least in terms of draft order -- only three entered this weekend with sub-.500 records. One of those was Cleveland, a team that already has knocked off New Orleans and New England this season. The two others faced each other Sunday here in Buffalo, and afterward the Bills' coach, Chan Gailey, had a message for his players: "Don't settle for this one."

Haven't watched the game other than the final ~3 minutes and the very few scoring plays that made the Red Zone channel. I don't think I'm going to watch the rest, no reason to torture myself. I don't even need to see it to know this: the effort was unacceptable. Buffalo has one OL that would even make the Lions, one DL that might make our rotation, even worse LBs than we have, and they beat us. The Bills have so little talent yet they have played their butts off every week; if they don't totally outwork the other team they wouldn't be within 14 points of anyone including the Lions. Very disappointing day with this one.

We average about 10 penalties a game as a team, and at least 7 per game must come from our OL by itself....totally inexcusable.
We played the game as if we were afraid to throw the ball. Best and Smith weren't productive at all, and we kept running them on 1st and 2nd downs. They averaged about 2.35 yards/carry. Would like us to incorporate Felton into the running game a little more. He's a bigger back that can at least put his head down for an extra yard or two.
Our pass-game was almost laughable. Of the 29 completions, how many were passed short of 10 yards? I felt everything was a checkdown. Why were we so scared of the Bills D?
Defensively, they weren't doing anything but running right at us or checking down to Jackson...they were just as vanilla as us but were more effective.
And on that 2-point conversion play....first off, the call was horrid, but if Hill's going to toss up a jump-ball, he has to at least make it somewhat catchable....
I don't mind losing, but I hate watching games where we continually make stupid mental mistakes over and over and over again....

They stayed with that same game plan all game run 1,2nd and pass on third .
We need felton to run more ,the offence cordinator should be fire at end of season.
The bills though long first series to streach the defence and it worked ,why did'nt the lions do the same thing.
The lions do nothing to teach the team how to cut down on penaltys thats the fault of the coach.
the lions played to safe not to lose and teams the do that always lose the game.

You are right about this, and totally right that there was no point watching. Not even the nice moments of watching Jason Hanson try FGs which I always enjoy no matter how bad we are cause I enjoy watching excellence at any time for any thing.
Everything about what you say is sad, and it's all because of Mayhew, he's the guy that can change the tone of your paragraph, that's his job and he has the power and if he did different things in the past, then this year we could be the division front runner. That's the difference between having a solid GM and a weak one. It's really not fair and it's inexcusable that our front office effort isn't there. It's hard to bank on people performing consistently in a physical exercise with lots of random variables, but from a desk and mental standpoint there is no valid reason or excuse to screw up. If you are doing a math test, you should be able to sit at home and figure out 100% of the time that 2 + 2 is 4 and 4 x 9 is 36 and never make a mistake on simple problems, because they don't have the capacity to be more complicated than what the human mind is equipped to deal with and solve with near perfect consistency. But to go outside and shoot free throws, it's just not possible to use your mind to force 100% of the balls into the net.
So I don't worry about the team and the players as we have what we have and we can't control everything, but the behind the scenes mistakes with roster management and coaching and gameday tactical decisions are unimaginably horrendous, and we're never going to enjoy our football experience until we mandate that our mental mistakes should be zero, and Ford and Mayhew don't have that mandate or the ability to enforce one. This is sad and crushingly disappointing to me. It's so simple to do this the right way, when can we realize this?
