I can see the ending of this game detroit 4th and 2 and 5 min remaining at green bay 45 they punt and green bay gets 5 first downs and runs the clock out and take a knee. GB-27 DET-24
game note ; because we don't have a 3rd reciever they double team CJ all game and he only gets 5 passes. Drew Stanton get injured in the 3rd and back-up Zac robinson is in the 4th trying to rally the lions and come up short .
lions media report they gave a good effort and because of penaltys and broken plays,coaching they lost the game that they should have won.

Starting our 3rd string QB against a very good GB defense.
No Alphonso Smith against a very good Packers passing offense.
I don't see this game going very well for us.
GB=34
Det=17
But, I'll be there!!

If you have Aaron Rodgers in your fantasy league, you would be wise to start him

Oddsmakers have it as only a 1 TD difference.

Well this game doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but there are still things I want to see from this team. I want to see these players fight until the very end. They are playing for work. This is evaluation time.
A few things to look forward to over these last 4 games.
Calvin Johnson is 128 yds away from 1,000. And 1 TD away from a career high for him. He could get that today.
Ndamukong Suh is 2 sacks away from 10 and 3 sacks away from I believe the rookie DT record of 11.
Jahvid Best is 146 (all purpose) yds away from 1,000.

HUGE win for the Lions today, beating a division rival. The only losing streak left is the road one. I'd still like to see 1 more win this season. Maybe against Minnesota in week 17? 4-12 wouldn't be too bad to end this season, everything considering. It's progress. And we've developed some young players and gained chemistry with some units.
Our D-line continues to impress. They won this game for us. We have solid depth there as well. Now if we can improve the secondary and build the linebacking corp, we can have a solid defense. Alphonso Smith looks like a damn good nickel, and Chris Houston (if re-signed) would make a really good #2. Hopefully Peterson will be our pick and we'll have a damn good #1. Spievey continues to grow. I think he'll be solid at SS next to Delmas. But we need depth there.
On offense, we need Stafford to stay healthy, and depth. We have no #3 receiver. Bryant Johnson sucks arse and Derrick Williams has done nothing since being drafted. We also need to figure out our running game. Jahvid Best looks great (when healthy), but we need a big back that can make plays on short yardage situations. I don't think Kevin Smith is the answer.
Special teams is tough. Logan has been great for us. I hope we keep him around. I also really like John Wendling. But we need better tacklers. I'm tired of penalties on special teams.
Overall, I like the growth I see from the team, but I can still see the holes we have and hope Mayhew can address them. He's done well so far though.

We could have beat them by a lot more but we were inconsistent with the play calling and we kept going back and forth from good plays for Stanton to bad plays. If he had a little more experience and we had better gameplans for him to orchestrate then we could have put up some more points.

My roommate, the die hard Packer fan, has been in hiding ever since the game ended.

Was at the game....
We need to get the ball to CJ whenever he's one-on-one with a CB. I saw two instances where he lined up in the slot and was one-on-one with a safety, and we STILL didn't go to him.
CJ needs to be getting at least 8-10 targets per game no matter what.
Draft sidenote; a big RB wse could get later in the draft woulc be Bradford (USC). He could be a very good compliment to Best moving forward.

^ I agree, but Calvin did get 8 targets in the game, unfortunately most of the throws weren't on target. He had balls throw behind him, at his feet and too high. It takes alot of effort to get a ball too high for Calvin to reach, but Stanton did it. Stanton just isn't very good, but that's why he's a 3rd string QB. He didn't lose us the game, so that's progress.
Thank god our rushing game showed up, even against a run down opposing D-line. Even Stanton scrambled for plays. We had almost 200 rushing yards and I think only one guy had over 50 yds. We got solid contirbutions from everyone. Even the reverse for Calvin was nice. We've done it twice this season that I remember, against NE and now GB and it worked both times. Trick plays can help us change things up and get defenses on their toes.
Our defense and run game won us this game despite mediocre QB play. I guess we know what it feels like to be the NY Jets.

The DL was monstrous. Watching Jackson and McBride win their battles on almost every play was real nice to see with KVDB and Avril out. I thought Hill played a strong game too.
I was very frustrated with Stanton. I admire his chutzpah and courage but he really leaves a lot of missed opportunities on the field. He's one of those guys that makes even the easy plays look difficult. I was ready to kill him when he threw that scrambling INT into double coverage down the field. Twice on that play he had to see an open receiver about 10 yards downfield to his right but he didn't. He plays like Big Ben stylistically and that's tough on receivers.
I give credit to Dominic Raiola for a strong game. Not just in how he handled his blocking, but he consistently made the right line calls and adjustments. They didn't always get executed properly but that's not on him. That one had to feel good for him and Backus.

We could have beat them by a lot more if not due to poor play calling. If he had a little more experience from the past and we had better gameplans for him to orchestrate, then we could have put up some more points. He could have played a lot worse and I still would not have been worried or frustrated cause I don't care how he looked in that game. I only care how he looks in the first game after he gets his feet wet and has a chance to get settled in.

Drew Stanton had the worst game of his career and the lions win go figure? i would still like to see what Zac robinson can do he may be better than stanton for next season.
