Mikel Leshoure likes pot (Arrests thread)

Two arrests in about 3 weeks. Second arrest he tried to eat the evidence. Freaking idiot. He'll get at least 4 games for this.

A couple of other oddities here:
--dude spends a lot of time in the Benton Harbor area for a guy from Illinois. The beach and St. Joes is nice in the summer but in late winter that's one of the last places on earth I want to be.

--possession of marijuana only sets you back $485 in fines there. When my brother got caught at Ohio U. in the mid 00s he had to pay over $1500 in fines. Talk about decriminalization...

Very dumb. Lets hope his suspension is on the low end of the spectrum

Well they only decriminalize it if you have money. If you're poor that can be prison time to play with drugs.

I bet the Lions would consider LaMichael James in the 3rd round. Hey Icness, how often would you guess the GMs ask players if they are potheads?

its for his lower back pain, don't discriminate.

i wonder what the league thinks of players who have prescriptions for pot for diagnosed problems.

No but in all seriousness, this sux. i was stoked for him. on the plus side, Ricky Williams smoked pot and was good

I know most teams ask about pot usage and expect this exact answer: "Yeah I've done that but not anymore". A pot bust is not as damaging as a DUI or hitting a woman in the eyes of the NFL. Nor should it be.

Who knows maybe smoking pot makes you run better, no one's done a study on football and pot.
this is not a big problem but the leauge may think otherwise.

I heard on The Ticket that he skipped his court date, there were rumors that a bench warrant had been issued for his arrest, idiot.

Getting caught with some green ain't bad, but get your a$$ to court!

He wound up walking in on his own recognizance and settled it, or at least that's what I've read on Twitter.

Looks more likely that the Lions will use a middle-rounder on a RB. Kind of sad when Kevin Smith is the most reliable RB on the roster. No knock on Smith but he's had three knee surgeries already.

I'd love to get Lamar Miller (MIami) out of this draft, but I can't see us using a high pick on a RB again.

Some guys who project to be mid-to-late round picks that I'd like:

Cyrus Gray (Texas A&M)
Vick Ballard (Mississippi State)
Bryce Brown (Kansas State)

No one should ever accuse the 2011 draft class of being a bunch of geniuses.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/04/03/nick-fairley-arrested-for-marijuana-possession/#comments

According to the Mobile Press-Register, Fairley has been charged with second-degree possession, a misdemeanor.

Police had received complaints about a car speeding through the Morningside Manor neighborhood. As it turned out, Fairley was driving the vehicle. Marijuana was then found in Fairley’s possession.

Jesus are you kidding me? Do NFL players not know to stay home and play video games when you smoke weed like everyone else?

That's 3 members of the 2011 draft class busted for pot. Titus Young next?

Nope, Nick Fairley. Good guess though. Didn't he already cost you a bet for the preseason this year? lol

Wow even Johnny Culbreath was arrested for weed in January, that's 3 now! Maybe we have a weed dealer inside the locker room?

The logical step now is to sign Jerome Simpson

And he actually fits with what the Lions need too as a #4 receiver.

I say we draft a younger and cheaper pothead in the later rounds.

Nick Fairley now appears to like driving drunk as well. And eluding police. *sigh*

Fairley is a complete immature imbecile. If the Lions had any balls or sense of just how badly the players are out of control they'd cut his sorry butt.

Leshoure is looking at 4 games, Fairley could get suspended for as many as 8. He also faces the very real possibility of not being allowed to leave his home with the probation violation and fleeing charges. He could play in Detroit but not travel.

That pick is going to haunt the Lions for years. They could have had Mike Pouncey (who they liked a lot), Nate Solder (weren't going to take him that high though), Prince Amukamara (again, would have traded back), or Jimmy Smith (definite possibility at 13). There wasn't one person at Auburn that had Fairley's back regarding character, not one. He owed his agent and others more than his rookie contract could ever pay even before the Combine. Clearly all about the $$, just look at his Auburn career before his final season, he was a marginal starter on an iffy defense. Schwartz overestimated his locker room and his own ability to keep the troops in order. Playoff teams cannot afford to blow top 15 picks on obvious busts like that. Send the message now and waive him; it's not like he will ever offer anything to this team.

On the positive side....Detroit might be voting to legalize pot.....which will give new meaning to our Lions players being "hungry."

DETROIT HAS TO LEGALIZE POT TO GET PEOPLE TO COME BACK TO THE CITY.
