If it is a choice between him and a 2nd round WR pick, I would rather draft defense or OL in the 2nd.

Honest;y weve taken a WR in the 2nd round of the last 2 drafts. they havent worked out. we have other area's that need to be addressed. If stafford is really as good as the FO says he is and calvin is going to be commanding double teams, we should theoritically just need a player than can run decent routes and catch a ball, rather than a stud 2nd wide out. i like the idea of DHB as he could return kickoffs

Does DHB actually return kicks, or is he just crazy straight line fast?

I'm intrigued by the idea of him though, thats some field stretching speed right there......

He's never returned a kick in the NFL, didn't do it much at Maryland either. Very straight line fast, but he has seriously improved all around since his rookie season. Much better at selling moves, reading coverage, using different speeds to separate, blocking. Still not great but can give the Lions what they need opposite Megatron. I would love to see him get some mentoring from Burleson, can only make him better.

REally i get the exact opposite feeling. it feels like they have a game plan are executing it. just can't predict what FA's are going to do .

DHB is a idiot for going to Indy, they literally have no direction. See what they blowing there cap space on.

on a side note: i do find it interesting that we overpaid Levy. i wonder if that was intentional with his upside, or that they misjudged the market

Gotta disagree with ya Pete

We shored up our biggest hole and made safety a strength, brought in the speed back we desperately needed, brought back Houston on a good deal and let guys walk that we couldn't afford. I mean we didn't go sign Mike Wallace or Welker or something but our cap space was pretty restricted and that wasn't going to happen. We used it brilliantly as is. I'm not sure what else we could have realistically done

Speaking of filling needs....former Cards QB John Skelton was released. He's a BIG armed qb with a scattershot aim. He did win some games too. Might he be a little bit of an upgrade over our 3rd stringer Moore, the owner of a very accurate pea-shooter? At least Skelton is in the same mold as Stafford. After Hill is done enxt season, Skelton would be the main backup. BIG arm to stretch the field and get it deep to CJ, and a tebow-like knack for winning, despite looking like crap in doing so.

Yeah, so we improved S and RB....

But we got worse on the O-line, D-line, LB, and maybe WR

And we didn't do anything with CB really, other than re-signing Houston.

So going into the draft, we still have a ton of holes to fill.

And a sidenote.....Durant is making less money in Dallas than what we're paying Ashlee Palmer.

I tweeted about him yesterday, would love for DET to bring in Skelton.

From the quick look-up I just did, looks like a quality backup DT

Higher rated, more run-stuffing oriented version of Sammie Hill. Cost a little more than I like but fills a big void.

FYI, Tim Twentyman has confirmed that WR/KR Joshua Cribs is visiting the Lions.

Every time Stefan Logan fielded a punt or kick last year, I found myself reaching for the whiskey bottle while the ball was in the air. Seeing as I also really don't want to see possibly injury-prone players at key skill positions returning kicks (cough, cough, BUSH, cough, cough, SLAY, cough, cough), I'm all for signing Cribbs if the price is right.

Jeff, quick question for you (if you don't mind) — why haven't the Lions taken a look at Brandon Lloyd? He seems to have no market right now, so I have to think we could get him on a dirt cheap one year deal. Isn't he exactly the type of outside WR we'd like to put across from Calvin, with Broyles and Burleson working the slot? I know his age doesn't fit with our young core long term, but wouldn't he be a pretty decent stop gap on a cheap one year deal?
