Calm down bud,

1.) lets stop acting like our secondary has been so strong the past couple years that drafting a CB in the 2nd round is absolutely preposterous. Slay has the potential/skill set to be a pro corner in this league.

2.) we just signed Stafford to 100,000million dollar contract, we need our QB to make up for our lack of talent at WR. Stafford has over thrown a lot of receivers down filed

3.) Its the preseason, we aren't playing all our offensive packages , and when does preseason play translate to regular season play.

4.) WR is still very much a need and does very much provide us with another weapon to score if our QB can't hit the broad side of a barn, there are going to be a ton of cuts and teams like SF have a ton of WR talent and not enough roster spots.

New England is entering the season with two UDFAs as their starting receivers (and a third as their TE) and their 4th round pick is way ahead of their 2nd round pick at wideout. They're still going to win 12 games. For what the Lions are paying Stafford he needs to be able to win with Calvin and a bunch of high school kids.

The Lions are confident in Burleson and Broyles both coming back and playing well. They will look a lot better when they're in the roles they are designed for, which happens when Calvin plays.

I'm more worried about Pettigrew. He does not look confident and he also looks slower.

No concerns over Burleson, who looks done, or Broyles, playing with the bad knees? That's good to hear certainly. Is there anything to Broyles playing with the second team in the preseason?

When it comes to QBs, Football Outsiders pretty much confirms the eye test on Stafford; he has a lot of production, but it comes due to a large volume of plays, which is why he's 7th in total production, but a middling 12th in efficiency.

Agreed, it seems staffords so concerned about throwing picks that he's timid, then when we are down with 2 minutes left he takes more chances and seems to payoff. i have been saying this all along, if we are going to pay him that much money, it shouldn't matter who he's throwing too. The problem hasn't been the receivers not catching the ball the problem is he overthrows even our open receivers. Tony's catch was great, but it was also a poor throw.
