Ok guys I'm not going to do anything fancy with the game thread, but at least now we have one ready to go for the game.
On the Bears:
Well Griese is starting for the Bears for the first time and he will be capable to move the ball much better than Grossman, so this could spell trouble for our secondary once again but won't be anywhere near as bad as the Eagles game. The Bears defense sounds pretty banged up though. Vasher has already been ruled out for todays game, and Archuleta, Briggs, Tillman and Harris are all questionable.
On the Lions:
Sounds like Calvin Johnson could play but will likely not be 100 percent thanks to the hard fall to the turf he took last week. Otherwise I think there are no key injuries to mention other than Bullocks who is out for the season on defense.

I had to miss the 4th quarter, but was sure were were doomed after that 98 yrd return.
I'm kinda conflicted over this whole thing. The evidence tells me we are at least a decent team this year, but years of conditioning tell me that it's just false hope which will make it even more painful when the shoe drops.

Especially against the Bears defense. Granted they aren't what they were last season, but that's still a very solid defensive squad they got.bstein14 wrote:34 points in the 4th quarter is just flat out nuts.
Well, in fairness the Bears also had a few horrible INT's in the endzone. From a Bears perspective you could probably say the same thing; some stupid mistakes prevented them from getting pts up on the board. We really outplayed the Bears in the first half but some stupid mistakes prevented us from getting points up on the board once again.
No complaints from me. Again, the Bears offense is pretty inept right now and we were a bit fortunate with some of their untimely mistakes, but also gotta give our D some credit. We're coming up with some big plays and I think are at or near the top of the league in take aways and that has been huge for us.Gotta be very happy with the defense today though.
Going to be interesting how long Griese lasts as Bears QB...

Every year I start out hopeful. I usually doesn't take this long before I've lost it. Still, we're beating crummy teams. Who else can we beat on our schedule?
What's up with Johnson?
What's up with Johnson?

Johnson caught a pass against the Eagles as he was falling backwards. He landed hard on his back and ended up getting a deep bruise. I think he was still a little too sore to be effective against Chicago so he was held out of the game. I would look for him to be back to playing next week against Washington.

The Bears were without four starters on defence, including most of their secondary.
Regarding Kevin Jones, it was infact his first game back...anybody who saw the game could you tell me how he looked?

Jones looked alright. His lateral agility isn't back yet and it appeared his acceleration isn't 100%, but both are pretty close. He flashed good power and didn't shy from contact. I'd put him at about 85-90% of his pre-injury self.
