KC is taking a big risk, They gave matt cassell a huge contract after a fluke season in NE and now are trading 2 first rounders for a guy who career wise has been more of a bust than a decent QB. Hopefully he's hungry to show everyone, especially the niners that they made a mistake.

KC traded their pick, so it'll be niners drafting 2nd. i think their biggest need is probably at running back or TE? Their OL is pretty stacked. Maybe Safety?

Uh yeah KC paid a boatload for Smith. He's a game-manager and doesn't have the same Oline or TEs in KC that helped make him viable in SF. If I'm KC and know that the QBs are going to drop in this draft (and they should), why not just draft the future QB at the top of the 2nd? They'd save money and have a young guy who would have far more potential. I don't get it...

The Niners made out like thieves. They have a stable of RBs and TE is one of their strengths (Davis and Walker), so I don't think they look there. They have 5 picks in the top 93, so they will be grabbing a variety I'm sure. I think they definitely look Dline and DB and probably a homerun hitter at WR (play to Kaepernick's arm strength). Otherwise I'm not sure, but the rich get richer here.

i agree, or trade picks with Seattle and maybe pick up an extra pick for Matt Flynn. who i think has just as much a chance to succeed as smith.

Walker is a FA, so i think they'll be drafting a TE but not with the First pick. a WR probably will be a pick. SF is going to be such a scary team with all their picks

Miami thinking about trading up for a LT. The Lions at 5 could be their trade partner.

Anyone see the new Jacksonville Jaguars unis? I think they're pretty hideous. Anyone like those things?

The uni is gross, but I do think the new logo is pretty slick. Nike did a much better job with the Seattle uni's I think.

Looks like a college team. Poor Denard, and possibly Tim Tebow.

Well they handled it about as bad as they could have as well. They should have let him sit a year and learn. Instead they threw him to the wolves with no weapons. Bad play all around

i understand that but its not like he was showing off a amazing arm or making phenomenal plays, he looked like a raw prospect. #2 pick for a raw prospect?

^^^ Not nearly as raw as Ziggy "I've only started 9 games" Ansah -- who we just took at #5....

Gabbert was the #10 pick FWIW

actually it says 11th pick. i think i'm recalling the #2 quarterback of the draft. but even at that, its a first round pick.

QB and DE are different, you can live with a prospect DE, especially in our system, QB's touch the ball way more often

More guys I've never heard of became Lions. http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/20 ... acker.html

LB Cory Greenwood and G Derek Hardman. Both were waiver claims.

And more camp filler become Lions. Thaddeus Young QB off waivers from Cleveland. Other guys as well, but can't find an article.

I don't get the need for 5 QBs, even during preseason.

You are hoping to find your QB3 to hopefully develop into your backup for next season when Hills contract runs out (I think it does at least).

QB1 and QB2 are set in stone. But you are hoping that the Moore/Carder/Young competition brings out the best in someone and pays off down the road

Lions released Carder today.

Lewis has a legit chance at beating out Moore for the QB3 role.
