Former Army safety Caleb Campbell said he's been offered a contract by the Detroit Lions, the team who drafted him in the seventh round in 2008.

Thoughts?

He wanted to be in the NFL and the Army denied him the chance. Good for him to be able to play now. I have absolutely no problem with this.

Me neither. The coaches were really him on him last season, before the Army recalled him. I remember the coaches loving his work ethic and intensity. Article says he runs a 4.5 40....

Dude, ajax, look at the thread title again. The Lions view Campbell as an OLB - not a safety.

Yeah, I see him making a Zach Follette type impact on special teams.

I'm friends with him on facebook and he has a lot of support and he is a great guy and personality. He knows how gifted he is that he got the chance to play in the NFL, even though it's in MI.

Safety, linebacker, special teams.... I don't care... I just want to see what this kid has and hopefully he can help our team. I bet he'd go in the lions cage with Follett LOL. THe more tough guys we have on our team the better.

According to Schwartz, the Lions WILL sign Campbell... the only question is when he will join the team.
