No way he’s retiring. Not leaving the single largest season payout ($59M) in NFL history when he’s got plenty left in the tank. And why negotiate that contract to retire after a year?

Rodgers is not going to leave 100 million on the table

The way Rodgers saluted and waved good-bye to Soldier Field was, I think, telling of where his head is at. It gave off the vibe that he thinks that game might be the last time he ever plays there, whether due to retirement or a trade.
He did something similar last year and walked around Lambeau like it was the last dance...and he's back. He's not retiring. No way. No how.
Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die.

I've heard him say the contract is not what it appears to be and there is more to it. And to answer your question, maybe he has enough money? More likely he is worried he may have another down year, decline a bit and doesn't want to tarnish his legacy. It's possible he reluctantly agreed to even play this season because we should have had a top 10 defense in place and a legit shot at a Super Bowl.
The reality is that I don't think anyone other than Rodgers knows what he is thinking and I don't really think $$ is the driving factor in his life.
I'd expect if he continues to play, that contract gets amended every season in a way that was probably already planned out and agreed to before he signed it.

Maybe, but part of me thinks he would look at Romo and go 'I can do a lot better than him' and maybe do it. For the record I think he would be good, but he could also retire and start a hippie colony or move to Nashville to start a west coast country band, I have no idea.

Tom Brady signed a 10 year $375M BROADCASTING contract when he fake retired. Rodgers would be in a similar range, doesn't have to take any more hits or injuries and can basically work 2 days a week and make almost as much (not quite but close) what he is making now. And he can probably move to Florida or Texas to not pay any income tax on it too.
It’s hard for guys like Rodgers to give it up he’s a year removed from being league MVP

I'm aware, but again you don't know what he is thinking, I don't know what he is thinking. So it is weird for anyone to try and be definitive for any particular reason, as if they actually know.

Maybe media but I can't see him as like a color guy or even a talking head on a pregame show although I could actually see him be good at that. Maybe he joins AJ Hawk and McAfee. I don't really see coaching, he doesn't seem to have the personality for that. Or maybe he goes completely the other way and opens a medical mushroom biz or something.

He'll go on a year-long walkabout.

I think he'd broadcast while on ayahuasca.
Might be interesting.
