I will agree the dumbest thing they’ve done is give Mettauer garbage snaps in 3 games so they can’t just play him or lose a valuable year of eligibility down the line.

All of that said - I just don’t know why it would be very beneficial anyways.

Who gives a **** about redshirt seasons at this point with college football? Mettauer should be giddy about being able to get snaps already. If he shows anything, he has a chance to start for multiple seasons.

The Badgers are 5-5. This is a lost season. Play the future.

That's the way I see it too! Red shirting doesn't matter any more, chance are if the QB who doesn't start but still thinks he can play is going to leave or the starter is real good and gets poached! Its all scrap now

He apparently can’t beat out Locke, who around the country would make him a starter right now? I mean if North Texas or some MAC school wants to roll the dice, by all means. I can guarantee that power conference teams will have 100 calls to make before him.

A redshirt season would be very helpful for him now. This sounds crazy, but if he’s good, I’d rather see him get an entire full year of starting 3 years from now vs. probably still going 0-2 in a 5-5 season.

As bad as Locke has been the O-line still isn’t very good either. Been years since we’ve seen the dominant line UW was known for.

Also of note: look through the game logs of most Oregon games this year other than Ohio State. Most teams struggled to throw for more than 150 yards, several also falling below 100 yards.

Most of those QBs got to run up 75 yards in garbage time.

This was just a pretty realistic outcome.

As bad as Locke is/was I do feel bad his 2 best plays got called back, one fairly with the ineligible man and one unfairly with the chop block. That was a legit good throw on the run for 15-20 yd gain.
