Pro-Organization: MM basically sat and listened to Favre whine and bitch and tell them that he really didn't want to play in Green Bay

Pro-Favre: MM didn't embrace Favre or give him any hope that there would be a fair competition for the starting job.

I don't know why so many had to look a things like either Brett was the Anti-Christ or that Thompson is a complete and utter buffoon. Both sides made enough mistakes that allowed this whole situation to get drawn out so long that much of the national media were mocking everyone involved.

I spent seven hours in the car today because I had to help someone move. I listened to the PC with my dad and we had the same reaction, "What a whiny pussy".

Favre is the scorned lover. No, he doesn't want to be a Packer. MM made that abundantly clear. He would have welcomed him back if he were open to returning. He's not. All he wanted to do at these meetings is rehash the reasons he felt disrespected and under-appreciated. For christ's sake, be a man. This is a business. He was retired. The Packers moved on (what the hell were they supposed to do?).

If he wanted to he could come back and compete. But he doesn't want to. He wants to be a **** Viking.

MM told Favre it would be an open competition. BOTH FAVRE AND MCCARTHY knew who would win an open competition (Favre), yet Favre still would not commit to the Packers 100%, both out of MM's and Favre's mouth. That shows right there that it was never about playing for the Packers again, but Favre getting his frustrations out.

I agree with DB (as usual) on this issue. You retired Brett, what the hell did you want the team to do at that point? Tell Rodgers, "you know, you're the starter right now, but if Mr. Indecision comes up with some hair-brained idea to un-retire TWO WEEKS BEFORE GODDAM TRAINING CAMP, we're just going to have to give the job to him".

Even after all the indecision, the Packers gave Favre basically the starting job back (all parties know he's going to win an open competition) but Favre refused to take it. Basically, nothing pleases the man and he loves to see his face on TV.

Gotta give props to McCarthy.

If the damage has been done, I have no problem with McCarthy's stance--can't blame him one bit.

I do have a problem with TT and the Packers whole bluffing stance throughout this whole thing though.

Okay the die is seemingly cast. Again.

One thing to consider here...

OK, Favre feels disrespected and hurt. But from who?

It's easy to answer that with The Green Bay Packers, but it's essentially Thompson, right?

If I were Favre, I could really give a rat's ass about what Ted **** Thompson thinks of me. I've got my contract, I've got more clout in the organization than he could ever dream of, I'm beloved by an entire nation of Packer fans.

What would concern me most is the guys in the locker room, the guys in the huddle, the guys on the sideline and the fans. He could have had all of their support. Even as of today, had he come back how long do you think it would have taken him to win the vast majority of the locker room over....a week? Maybe a couple preseason games? If that?

Favre has to know this. Despite his outstanding track record thus far, Thompson is a nobody to most Packer fans compared to Favre. Had he played this one out like in Silver's column, everything would have been fine and dandy and it's Ted that looks like the ass.

Favre's either dumber than I thought, overly sensitive (distinct possibility), an amazing prima-donna that wants to be GM AND QB, or would rather just be gone and used TT to be his villain. I'm guessing it's a combination of the above.

There were no cameras in the very private McCarthy/Favre meetings, but some enterprising journalist has produced an artist's recreation of the talks.

As an aside, it's too bad Favre isn't interested in playing for San Diego - he looks good in powder blue.

I can see why some fans think even after all the waffling by Brett, he gives the Packers the best chance to win and thus are upset with Thompson. Whether others don't agree with that, it's not some irrational thought.

My biggest disappointment though in all of this is hearing about fans yelling crap at Rodgers, even though he's handled this in such a great manner. It's ridiculous and any socalled Packer fan doing that is flat out an idiot and that's probably being to kind.
