And also got a 4th in return.

The 4th i'd assume was thrown in partially because Jackson had said he wouldn't play in Green Bay and if he never reported, we wouldn't be stuck out completely of a second round pick.

Oh well, it's done. We'll see over the next few years if Gonzalez starts showing very noticeable decline or not, thus the team maybe missed an opportunity or dodged a bullet. He is 32, but seems to be a dedicated athlete, hard to know that answer until his play answers it.

Wow, Wilde says the Packers thought they had a DEAL DONE with the chiefs

Packers: Chiefs pull rug out from Gonzalez-to-Green Bay deal

GREEN BAY — The Green Bay Packers thought they had a done deal to trade for nine-time Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez, only to have the rug pulled out from under them by the Kansas City Chiefs minutes before the trading deadline Tuesday when Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson raised the asking price.

According to two NFL sources familiar with the negotiations, the Packers had drawn up the trade paperwork and sent it to the Chiefs to finalize the deal — a third-round pick for Gonzalez — only to have the Chiefs call them 10 minutes before the deadline to say it would take a second-round pick to get the deal done.

The Chiefs ended up keeping Gonzalez, who is now angry a deal didn't get done.

But both NFL sources confirmed the Packers thought they had a deal. One source also said Gonzalez wanted to play for the Packers more than the other teams in the bidding.

The Packers "sent the papers and everything, thinking it was going to happen," the source said.

Pretty douchy move by KC if true, it will make it that much less likely that other teams will be inclined to negotiate with them for players in the future.
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Yeah, can't fault TT for this one like a lot of people immediately tried to do. It's great to hear he made a genuine push for Gonzo (and thought it was a done deal). 10 min before the deadline? What are you supposed to do in that amount of time, Carl? Doesn't leave a whole lot of time to negotiate.

i knew when i read that article, there was no way TT was going to make that trade. it was too logical. if he wouldn't part wit h a 4th for moss, no wa y would he even thin k of parting with a thid round pick. TT's in love with those draft choices, so he can use them t o trade down. one year i fully expect Tt to continuously trade down so that he owns the entire 7th round. that would be sooooo like tT to have 32 7th round picks.

It was second best running game for the second half of the year. I can't fault TT for not getting Gonzalez if the Chiefs pulled the rug with 10 minutes to go.
