Yes, but Favre signed that lifetime contract a few years ago...

I do not think Jennings is easily replaceable. He's got talent far above a "system receiver" IMO.

That said, unless the Packers are really lowballing him (and they may be), it does appear from those MJS comments he doesn't want to sign here.

I'll be provincially offended if he doesn't want to play in Green Bay. That said, I think he'd be stupid not to take a big extension this weekend if offered it. Guys like Robert Brooks got injured and never were the same player. I'd find it hard to turn down what should be $10mm plus in guaranteed money right now. Again, assuming the Packers aren't lowballing him. All it takes is one play and Jennings career is done.

I agree that it's very risky in football not to take the guaranteed money. 1 1/2 seasons is a long time to wait for your payday. I'm not saying he won't sign an extension but I will stand by what I said that he doesn't want to play in GB. I've talked quite a bit with Greg over the last 2 1/2 years. Nicole too.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

As for not breaking the bank on Jennings, i guess that depends on how exactly you define breaking the bank, but i'd sure offer him a lot of money. Now if Jennings just flat out wants to live and play elsewhere, that's his call and i won't hold it against him given i also hate living in Wisconsin.

On the Rodgers contract, not much to say except it's great news, but i expected it

Rodgers signing is great news, and all of this sounds like the hoopla about Romo's deal before he had proven enough. If he has proven enough to Ted Thompson, he has definitely proved enough to me.

I think that Greg Jennings may want to leave, but Thompson will make it very difficult. He will definitely franchise Greg, and then offer him long term #1 money.

It is time to lock up Nick Collins.

I think Jennings is a top 10 WR, and would pay him as such. But he's not Calvin Johnson or Andre Johnson or Randy Moss. I would offer him a contract that pays him big money, but if it took him being the highest paid WR in the game to get him to stay, I'd franchise and move him.

Return to Green Bay Packers
