Here's a demo of Madden 2010. Looks like they fixed some stuff up..

There are the madden ratings for our team. Remember, as you would see if you watched the video, the ratings are all down this year, bad players are well, very bad.

2k5 was one of the greatest football games I've ever played. Just incredible. The rosters are outdated beyond belief, but I still play it now and then and feel like crying because they never got to keep making them.

2k5 was only $20 dollars and yet so far ahead of Madden that year it wasn't funny. EA felt threatened and bought up the competition. Now we're stuck with the sh*tty next-gen versions that people keep eating up for some reason.

Also, 2k basketball >>> EA basketball. If only 2k baseball would get better at some point.

I seem to be a minority on the nba live front though. I just hate the game play on the other one. The grahpics are a lot better and more detailed, but live is a hell of a lot more fun to play.

Really good ideas DrugBust..

Nothing bothers me more in sports games then stupid trades and players leaving that wouldn't leave and then going to teams they wouldn't go to. Like Peyton Manning leaving not only leaving, but going to Dallas while they still have Romo...stupid..Can't they do something that gives each player a percentage of the odds that they leave that team? Like guys that you just know aren't going anywhere get a really high(or low) rating and it makes it really unlikely that something goofy happens...I dont know

The funny thing is NFL 2K5 is so far ahead of Madden 09 it's not even funny.

I have Madden 09 for the 360 and it's trash, haven't played it since October.

When I wanna play football I break out NFL 2k5 on the ps2,the rosters are very out dated like you said but it's still an awesome game and still blows the latest Madden out of the water.

The thing that pisses me off though is if NFL 2k5 for the ps2 is still an awesome game imagine an NFL 2k9 or 2k10 now comming up on the 360 and PS3,.

And NFL 2k has been the better game (over Madden) since it's debut on the dreamcast in '99,I remember my cousin inviting me over after he bought his dreamcast and playing the OG NFL 2k for the first time, that day oh that glorious day haha.

I went and bought myself a dreamcast and NFL 2k as soon as the stores opened up the next day.

I never was a big Madden fan though,Madden was ok going back to the PS1 days but even back then I did prefer NFL game day.

Amen.

I cried the day EA bought out the rights for NFL :'( Seriously, I became a football fan because of NFL 2k5, I mean it was just a great game in general. I played it exclusively that entire year it was in date. I mean you could break tackles and there was gang tackling (which was added last year to Madden). There was actually a pocket you could stand in (which is being added this year to Madden) and QB evasive moves rather than running 30 yards in the wrong direction. And since then has there been a football game that featured a weekly sportsenter episode with Chris Berman at the desk, stats, replays of the best plays of the week, injury reports, trad/signing breakdowns, players of the week, and Mel Kiper Jr. talking about good prospects later into the season? No.

And as far as NBA, NBA Live 06-to-prestent have sucked. I remember trying Live 07 and saw Andrew bogut do a 360 windmill in a game :jawdrop: It just pales in comparison to NBA 2k, which has always been the best sim bball game.

I always loved 2k more than madden but last years madden was by far the best football game for online gameplay ever.

Did EA buy a lifetime deal with the NFL, or is it just a contract with an expire date? Basically what I am asking is will Madden ALWAYS be the only option for NFL football? I used to love Madden, but have liked it less and less with every new release.

I'm just getting back to this thread now...

Most encouraging thing from that video was hearing that they've slowed the game down. As much as they liked to claim otherwise, Madden was not a simulation to me. Even when messing the sliders it still felt too arcadish for my taste. So it's good to hear that they've tried to make the speed a little most realistic.

I'll give it a chance. I always do. I'm just also always disappointed. Hopefully not this year.

IDK what madden game you guys were playing last year, but as far as gameplay goes against another human being, madden was by far the best ever last season.

Great defense, great passing, realistic gameplay... Tons of close down to the wire games. I don't play around with franchise mode or against the computer anymore, so maybe thats why i'm in the minority for loving madden 09. But playing real competition online is by far the best aspect of sports games now a'days.

I think any sports game can be fun against another person. Human vs human >>>>>>Human vs cpu. But some computer things bogged down madden last year. For example, I like to run the football a lot and manage the clock and game to my liking. With the Madden IQ, my running vs a cpu was jacked to max where the AI would seriously be in my hole before I had the ball or line man could tackle you out of a full block. My back would average like .9 yards per carry and the game became a burden and not a pleasure. If you watch corners and lb's they react oddly/inapproptiate to the game. Plent of times I've seen Line backers turned around following a TE, has no idea where the ball is, then turns around cuts across the field and picks off a slot WR pass in the middle of the field. There is like no coverage mind set, and the speeds were all off for players. If you go to the Madden site and read the developers blogs, they admit when they had a timing problem, they'd just speed things up on animations instead of actually fixing the problem, for example QB's dropback was sped way up from everything else because they had a problem with lineman reaching them too fast for sacks, and this created a problem of no pocket forming and lopsided/unrealistic play. The GOOD news is that EA started READING their forums and are trying to address issues that we present on their page, so this game is looking to be better because they are listening to us for once....
