I do have degrees from a couple other schools. I guess when the going gets tough, I could claim to be a USF alum. My mom graduated from UW. my brother graduated from UW-MIlwaukee and UW River Falls, so I guess I'm going to have to bring some crow pie for Thanksgiving when I come up. twirls, maybe we could get together and go bowling and eat some cheese curds. I'm too smart to challenge you to a game of bball. you can play my son in bball.

something that crossed my mind. While UW has enjoyed more success than Purdue on the college level, how have they faired on the NFL pro level? What became of that 400 pound tackle/guard who was drafted by Detroit? Troy Vinson and Ron Dayne were great NFL players as was Terry Stieve (my once hometown of Baraboo). Woodson made Purdue just as proud. I'm not sure we can say QB Wright was a success story although he hung around the NFL for longer than expected. likewise, Purdue's Mark Herrman was a great back-up QB for about 10-12 years collecting a nice paycheck. he was making over $800,000 just to carry a clipboard - not a bad job. keller has proven to be a nice TE. Light is an all pro tackle. Some other purdue defensive line players were drafted. i don't follow UW players as much as Purdue. i' m quite certain there are many other UW players playing in the NFL.

it just seems like Purdue players seem to do better in the pros than they did in college. or at least they get more credit for what they do. i don't recall anybody outside of purdue ever saying anything good about kyle orton while he was at purdue despite the stats he put up. i don't recall anybody raving about keller while he was at purdue. everyone knew light was good, but he didn't receive any all american accolades.

I don't expect much from Purdue football in the next few years. i think the current Purdue coach's recruiting strategy of going after U of florida's and Florida st and USF's and miami's unsigned/unoffered florida high school recruits is flawed. the thinking is supposedly the 4th best Florida high school player is better than the best Indiana or illinois high school recruit. rather than trying to compete with Michigan or Ohio st for midwest recruits, Purdue is concentrating on Florida leftovers. Purdue signed 20+ kids from Florida last year and is well on their way to sign just as many this year. Maybe they should rename purdue to be Northen Florida University - Not FU for short.
