Now, Young will try to avoid rare consecutive road losses as he makes his first start at Turner Field where the Padres open a four-game series with the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.

Saltalamacchia comes up big for Braves

Saltalamacchia singled against Chad Billingsley, an old friend from South Florida, in the seventh inning to drive in Andruw Jones and give host Atlanta a 5-4 lead.

"I caught Chad growing up ... Junior Olympics, 18-and-under, summer leagues, stuff like that," Saltalamacchia said, adding the two played together for three years.

"I knew he had a hard fastball and good stuff, so I was sitting on a fastball. I knew he wanted to throw it past me."

We haven't been able to pick up a sweep since the beginning of the year. 4 of 4 would be sweet. I'll be disappointed with less than 3 of 4. I'm thinking Andruw Jones has his first good series. We're fortunate we just missed Peavy.

Chris Young is pretty good on the road, tonight should be tough.

I believe tonight's game will come down to the last innings. However, we still hit Chris Young very well, so hopefully it continues tonight and we start the series off with a win.

I agree 3 out of 4 should be in the bag.

The Braves have been on base 4 times tonight through 7 innings. Chris Young (their pitcher) has been on 3 times. We should be getting blown out right now.

No harm done tonight with everyone in our division losing.

It would be nice to pick up a game or two on the division, though. Didn't think I'd see a game where Woodward would have two more hits than KJ, Chipper, Andruw, McCann, Francoeur and Thorman combined.

Def should not have hit Young that last time.

Oh well, 3 out of 4 won't be too bad.

Lerew was MUCH better than I expected.

His post game interview was great too.

If feels so much better not seeing Redman penciled in as a starter. I'd hate to say this but I hope he's done for the year. We were finally in a game that didn't see us down 3-4 runs early.

If we get that kind of pitching from lerew consistantly... that would be awesome. He basically only made two mistakes last night (To Cameron and Sledge) otherwise he was ace.

If only Kyle Davies can just get it together.

Davies didn't pitch that poorly on Sunday.

yup, and it was very encouraging, what i meant was for him to be a bit more consistant. The kid has good stuff. :)

I'll take 6-7 ip and 3-4 runs allowed. Our offense can compete with that. But when Redman is giving up 4-5 in 2-3 ip thats too deep of a hole to climb out of. Davies and Lerew should be more than capable of giving consistent performances like that.

I can't believe the Smoltz vs Maddux match up isn't on TBS or ESPN.
