NFL Week 2 - Non Packer Games

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Fri Sep 17, 2010 3:39 pm

The downside to going to the game Sunday is I won't get to see Jets/Patriots. Two teams I hate. I guess I'd rather see the Jets lose if I had to pick one.

A similar game is Chicago/Dallas. As much as I hate to I have to root for Dallas. Can't ever root for a division rival.

Minny should take care of Miami at home.

Detroit will probably lose to Philly. I can't imagine them scoring more than a field goal or two.

Other interesting games are Balt/Cin (love to see Cin start off 0-2). Steelers/Titans (I don't care who wins but could be a good game).

Manning vs. Manning Sunday night will be interesting.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I am pretty excited about Jets/Pats.

I hope Chicago beats Dallas. I think Chicago will collapse at some point anyways and having Dallas start 0-2 would be really good for the Wild Card.

Hopefully Miami can step up. :D

I'm almost exactly in line with you MD. Really want the Jets to lose and would prefer the Bears get out of the race early. Plus, as much as it pains me, if Dallas is really that good, then I hope they get home field or something as any road block for the Vikings is helpful.

Honestly, if Dallas sucks and the Vikings get V-Jax, the only blocks I see from Brent going to the SB are NO and GB.

Most years, Min/Chi/Dallas are equal "I don't want them to win" teams.

If the Packers are that good, they're going to go through all of those teams (well, not the Bears, they suck). 2009 and 2010 are special seasons just like a season where the Cubs have a World Series-contending team. I'd love to see my team win it, but anything to stop the Cubs or Favre from a championship is actually MORE important to me.

The Chicago/Dallas game is really a win/win no matter what for the Packers. If Dallas wins, we go into Chicago in week 3 with a (likely) shot to put them two down in the division. If Dallas loses, we are likely two games up on them after week 2, and they are a division and WC contender. But I see Dallas winning that one.

I actually think Miami/Minny will be close this week. Miami is the kind of team that can just hang around, and they can shorten the game with their running attack/wildcat. In addition, the Vikings are still pretty short on passing weapons, so I don't see their offense really taking off yet.

I agree. The Williams Wall really got shredded up by New Orleans in the 2nd half last week and I could see Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams also being successful against that Dline. Brandon Marshall could also take advantage of a depleted secondary. I think Miami has a pretty good shot at beating Minnesota.

Dallas has a really tough schedule this year. They still need to play

Us
@ Min
@ Indy
@ Hou
Ten
NO
@ AZ
Phi x 2
NYG x 2

All those teams have a shot at the playoffs, so I wouldn't be too upset if they beat the Bears. I'd hate it if we lost at Chicago next week and had to look up the standings to the 3-0 Bears.

Never too early to root against the NFC, so go Denver, Indy, and Houston. Oh, and Miami too of course, a win at Minnesota would make for a superb week.

Just to preface, i'm Green Bay all day. Hate Chicago, hate MN.

I really don't think that's going to happpen... In fact, I think Chicago has a better chance to beat Dallas than Miami winning in Minny. Dallas has big question marks on the oline and in their secondary. If the Martz system is clicking like it did vs Detroit, It could be a rough day for Dallas' D.

The Vikings barely lost to the reigning SB champ.... On the road, on opening night and they held NO to 14 points. People like to say that the williams wall got pushed around but having the threat of Drew Brees at QB and their speedy WRs affected how the had to gameplan. I think that Mn isn't overly concerned with Chad Henne, Brian Hartline and Brandon Marshall. I say MN gets Miami by atleast 10.

I know I'm not in the majority (CBS has 94% of participants picking MIN in that game) - I just have this gut feeling. Overall, neither team looked great week 1 and again, it was week 1. It's not like I have any money riding on this...errr...hmmm...

I'm with you digital fool, Ronnie Brown has got his burst back, and say what you will about holding NO to 14 pts, but the Vikings couldn't move the ball themselves. I think it was one of those games in which it was going to be a grinder so they saints decided to just run clock with Pierre the rest of the 2nd half. Miami has a decent defense and two strong backs, I'll take those 6.5 pts.
You gotta make it sexy! Hips and nips, otherwise I'm not eating.

Is it really THAT impressive with what Chicago did? They played against a putrid Detroit defense and if not for an asinine rule that needs to be changed, would have lost after Shaun **** Hill was able to drive down the field with ease.

Well for 1 the Detroit defense looks much improved, their front 4 is pretty beastly, that being said no the Bears weren't that impressive, they didn't actually win that game and played like crap the entire game, I think if Stafford plays the entire game they lose by 2 touchdowns.

I should have clarified, Detroit does look to be much better at stopping the run at least, but they don't have whole lot of talent in the safety/cornerback department. Cutler was able to throw for 372 yards and they still should have lost. Disgusting. **** those refs and that terrible rule.
