Journal Times - The Yankees and Mets are paying close attention to Carlos Zambrano, whose contract negotiations with the Cubs have broken down in the wake of the team being put up for sale by the Tribune company

I heard maybe Milky Cabrera was on the block but we don't need another outfielder. I would think we would try and get a relief pitcher out of one of the 2.

The Mets have some good relievers that we could be interested in. Joe Smith, Aaron Heilman and Duaner Sanchez (even though he's hurt) would all make good additions to our pen.

I doub tthe Yanks have much we want in that regard, lord knows we don't want Farnsworth again.

Wait until the trade deadline and we can raise the asking price.

Teams will be giving up their top prospects to land someone like Carlos.

If we're going to continue to blow leads in the ninth inning, I wouldn't mind seeing him go.

The Angels wouldn't be a bad destination.

I wouldn't mind giving up Carlos but I think he will finish the year strong like he does every year.
For the right deal I would trade Zambrano and throw in Jones.

Yeah waiting till the deadline is probably the best thing to do.

A- You will know by then whether or not the playoffs are realistic option.
B- Teams usually panic and overpay.

The Mets would gladly ship Heilman in order to get Zambrano...
Jazz: Under reconstruction, we'll be back.
C- Maluach l Jackson l Hayes
PF- Okongwu l Newell l Salaun
SF- Wiggins l Bryant l McNeeley
SG- Thomas l Wallace l Nembhard
PG- Murray l Collier l Dillingham

If Zambrano is traded to the Mets Fernado Martinez better be part of the deal. That's all I have to say.

Ah, nothing like pitching great when we're already out of contention. Seriously, his slow starts need to absolutely stop if we plan on re-signing this guy. I don't care what he did in 05 and in 06 because we were already out of it (not so much in 05, but definitely in 06) before he started to pitch real good.

It's too bad we didnt trade him for ARod when we had the chance.

No way Minaya would give up Martinez. Milledge and some other pitching prospects not named Guerra.

Yeah, there is no way Omar gives up Martinez for a rent a pitcher who will probably want more than Zito got. Can't speak for the Stinkees who are desperate but, right now we're not desperate. I'd trade much more for Johan Santana.

However, I would trade Pelfrey and Milledge, I'd even throw in Heilman for Zambrano. Ehh maybe not Heilman because we really need him in the pen. I'd give him to you after this season if we can Zambrano long term.
