As big of a fan of Rodgers as i am, i do think people need to factor in the way football is today when say stats are thrown out about how high Rodgers career passer rating is. I made a post in another thread about Rodgers career stats that even just back in the early to mid-90's, a QB posting a 100 or higher passer rating for a season was extremely rare, last year 6 quarterbacks passed the 100 threshold. Even a 90 passer rating wasn't that common. In 1996 when Favre was the MVP, only he and Steve Young had a passer rating above 90, so far this year 15 QB's are 90 or above.
Go back into the 70's or 80's and even HOF quarterbacks would generally only have a QB rating in the 80's during their prime years. Hell, Joe Montana is often viewed as the best QB ever and he had 9 seasons with a QB rating in the 80's and only 5 seasons with a rating 90 or higher. Dan Fouts is in the HOF and his career passer rating of only 80.2 is hard to image when watch football today. HOF quarterback Jim Kelly has a career QB rating of 84.4 and this year 20 quarterbacks have a higher rating than that.
For a variety of reasons, NFL quarterbacks of today have it quite a bit easier than QB's of the past did to put up gaudy stats and stay healthy so as to be effective longer.
