Given that the Packers have been prone to slow starts, that Jennings drop on a sure TD looms particularly large.

Here are the number of 1st quarter points the Packers have scored the last six games:

10/31 vs Jets: 3
11/07 vs Cowboys: 0
11/21 vs Vikings: 0
11/28 vs Falcons: 3
12/05 vs 49ers: 0
12/12 vs Lions: 0

6 points in 6 quarters is just putrid. We have to be one of the worst 1st quarter scoring teams in the entire league. Continually doing nothing during the first quarter is going to kill you against good teams and leave you little margin of error against bad teams if something goes wrong. Although Rodgers being out obviously hurt us today, it wouldn't have been as big of an issue if we had put a couple of scores on the Lions during the time was Rodgers was in there.

By the way, I looked at the game log - according to my count, we had 7 drives before Rodgers was knocked out. I'm guessing that is a lot more than most of us remembered. 7 drives, 0 points. We had plenty of opportunities to get up on the Lions before Flynn came into the game.

How did Rodgers even get a concussion? His head was untouched and he barley was hit. Only thing that got hit was his shoulder and he grabed his shoulder of his throwing arm. I am so confused. Its a phantom concussion!

How fast the season can just end. 1 stupid play where Rodgers doesn't slide and the season is over. This is one of the worst season ever. All the over time games lost, and losing the Atlanta game because specials teams can't cover a kick return. In a few weeks we go from a possable #1 seed in the playoffs to missing the playoffs.

I could take missing the playoffs if MM was fired and we brought in someone like Cowher or Gruden but keeping Capers and kevin green as LB coach is a must.

So you missed his head smack the ground?

His head hit the ground twice, actually... He was tackled, it bounced against the ground, jerked up and then smashed back down against the ground again. How anyone misses that, I have no clue. :o

Anyway, the reasons we lost this game were:

1. Poor play calling.
2. Absolutely awful offensive line play.

Yeah, I thought it was a concussion right away. As soon as I saw that he was groggy, my reaction was, "oh ****."

Aaron has to slide there... he just has to. I think it is a very real possibility at this point that we miss the playoffs... That totally screws up our division record.

The more I think about it the more pathetic it feels. 3 points against the Lions.

I still lay blame on Jennings and Quarless. Quarless **** the vibe of the entire game, Jennings gave up a TD. Just get 10 pts out of those two opportunities and it is a win. I feel bad for how much the D was let down. 7 points with all the injuries they have sustained is still amazing. Especially with no Jenkins and Zombo getting knocked out.

Frankly, without Jenkins, I'm beginning to think we are past the tipping point and this team would be 1 and done in the playoffs. Expectations now are to just end on a good note.
You gotta make it sexy! Hips and nips, otherwise I'm not eating.

Chirp from a Lions perspective:
--with both starting defensive ends out, the 2nd string DEs completely dominated and embarrassed the starting GB tackles. It wasn't even close most of the time. Watching Lawrence Jackson beat Bryan Bulaga senseless on 75% of the snapsthey were matched up, with some pretty pedestrian moves, is a real bad sign for GB. The Packers OL make far too many correctable technique errors. I saw guys coming straight up out of stances, reaching across their bodies, not moving feet when engaged, not knowing where their help was. Very poorly coached unit up front, made to look worse by an exceptional DET front 4 and the best the Lions LBs have played all year by a pretty wide margin.

--I thought the failure to challenge the non-catch in the end zone was a huge mistake by McCarthy. Even if it was pretty clear he didn't have it, you have to show your guys you support them and believe they can make plays like that. I could have seen that call go either way, but knowing how badly the Lions have gotten jobbed by refs this year, I certainly would have taken a chance there.

--I thought the Packers defense did a poor job of attacking the left side of the Lions OL. Other teams with similar talent levels have done it much better. I understand that Capers had the LBs on that side as containment on Stanton and the backs coming out, but when you are facing a 3rd string QB with accuracy issues you have to bring more heat than just expecting Matthews to get a pressure on every play. Especially with the strong corners playing behind it. Tactical error from Capers that will go overlooked because the Lions struggled to score and because Matthews was a freaking monster.

--I would have gone with a lot more screens and short slants right behind the DL. You have to help your OL when they're so badly overmatched, plus the shorter throws play into Flynn's strengths and let him get a rhythm. The Lions have been torched all year by shallow crosses and quick slip screens, esp. those that attack the middle of the field. I counted three from GB all day and they all worked.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game
