OT - Badgers Hire Gophers Best Recruiter

ESPN_BigTen ESPN BigTen
Wisconsin hires Hammock as RBs coach - http://es.pn/e5OH8M

Congratulations. Badger fans probably don't even realize how good of a hire this is. Hammock was Brewster's best recruiter and Gopher fans were pretty pumped when Kill retained him.

ESPN_BigTen ESPN BigTen
Minnesota promotes Brian Anderson to fill RBs role. Kill says Hammock saw better chance to become an OC by going to Wisconsin. Interesting.

Sounds like Hammock may be the OC in waiting when Chryst moves on for a head coaching job. Kill has had the same OC for 10-15 years so he probably didn't think he'd have that opportunity in Minnesota.

It's not a total surprise because he started out as a Wisconsin grad assistant.

PBGM, I had to make my way over to gopherhole for the first time in a long time to see the reaction.

I obviously don't and will not post on there, but if you could say one thing from the collective RealGM board to all of those guys whining about how he is a traitor, ask how all of them cheered for Favre, Sharper, Longwell, etc. over the years.

Pot calling kettle black?

Grendon, I've been very tempted to do a 'cyber belt celebration' anytime I see an idiot gopher fan rip on Wisconsin as a state, but I really don't post too often. It sucks that there are so many idiots on there because it's about the only Gopher message board I'm aware of. There are a ton of Iowa and Badger trolls that post on there regularly too, which doesn't help. If they had some moderators on there it would really help a lot.

Every football argument between Gopher/Badger fans more or less looks like this:

Badger fan: Something about Gophers not being able to beat the Badgers in last 10 years.

Gopher fan: We have 6 national championships.

Badger fan: Yeah in like the 40s.

Gopher fan: Something about Wisconsin being fat, ugly, inbred etc.

Also, about the whole traitor thing. Most of Brewster's staff last year used to coach for Wisconsin. Kevin Cosgrove, Ronnie Lee, Hammock, Jeff Horton and maybe a couple others. Not to mention our starting safety is Kim Royston who played for Wisconsin before transferring back to Minnesota.

I don't blame Hammock at all for leaving. He'll get a lot more attention as Wisconsin's RB coach than Minnesota's.

Not sure how he's a traitor. He's an NIU guy.

I was hoping Doeren would've hired him on as either the OC or RB coach at NIU.

The Gopher's best recruiter? Isn't that like getting the dude from Biggest Loser with the best 40 time?

He got us some pretty good recruits with Brewster as a head coach, so imagine what he could do with a real system in place. I have a feeling you guys will really like this hire in a couple of years. Although I think he's a better recruiter than coach, but I don't think Wisconsin really needs a top notch RB coach, they seem to be doing fine in that department.
