Rance

Post#1 » by asif9t9 » Thu May 17, 2007 12:41 am

Anyone else think Rance talks just a little too much. I especially noticed it last night when the kid was pitching the 9th. Sometimes you just need to let the crowd noise talk.

Tonight, he's still doing it. He talks as the pitcher is winding up. Relax Rance. We know you played the game, and even though you weren't very good, we are impressed because you were a major leaguer.

But just watch the game with the rest of us.

I don't mind Rance that much but the only problem I have with him is that he doesn't have much of a sense of humour. He takes things to literally sometimes, and it leads to a lot of awkward moments when Jamie makes some sort of joke.

Tabler might not be the smartest baseball guy, but I think he has good chemistry with Campbell.

Darrin Fletcher is the total opposite of Rance. Darrin just sits there and jokes around with Jamie. To be honest, I think that's the best. I know it's to each his own. I do like when one of these ex-players makes a point and then gives us an example from back in the day. But, baseball can be so boring, so I don't mind them joking around. And I think Tabler doesn't have the right sense of humour for me.

I am a Fletcher fan. He sounds more like a fan in the booth than an "expert". I do agree Rance talks too much and doesnt seem to know when to slow it down or quiet it down.

I got Rance in the pants! (An expression one of my friends attributed to me after I claimed that Rance Mulliniks was my favourite Jays player of all time.)

But seriously now... Fletcher grinds my gears. He's not funny and he never makes any insightful comments. I don't mind Tabler, but he's becoming like the Leo Rautins of Jays analysts. Yes, you played, Pat. We know you weren't very good. Stop repeating the same reasons why the Jays aren't winning or are winning.

Rance, however, imo, provides some much needed ACTUAL analysis. I do agree, though, that he does talk too much sometimes. I think that's due to Jamie Campbell's inability to allow silences to be comfortable. He never eases into a spot where he's going to shutup. He trails off or something. I can't quite describe it. The long and short of it remains... Jamie Campbell isn't very good.
