Really want an OLB and WR tonight, obviously BPA, just hoping its those positions.
A versatile TB could also be big. MM used to do all kinds of **** with Deuce in terms of motioning him out or just lining him up as a WR. If teams had to deal with yet another wrinkle along with all the other things we send at them formation wise it could be even more of a nightmare to prepare for us.
I've wanted a guy like that since we hired MM since I was always impressed with what he did with McCallister in NO. The funny thing to me is that his offense there was very much based around the skills of Deuce with Horn being the other main threat. Their TEs didn't do a lot. Here, we now have him building much of the offense around a TE (at least at the beginning of last year) with our RBs being quite limited in their skill sets.
If we got a talented receiving type HB, we could put out our base set but still spread things out and have Kuhn as the lone TB. Think about how many different formations we could throw at teams with a RB that can actually run some routes. That is almost more important to me than finding another WR.
DC's brains would be exploding if we added a legitimate receiving threat at RB. Think if we had a Westbrook type back there to go along with Finley at TE and Jennings at WR. What kind of defense do you call against that? How do you match up?
I don't know this draft enough to know who may fit what I'm talking about, but it would be fantastic to find that type of back in rounds 2-3. If we had a HB that could catch 60 balls a year, those WR positions after Jennings become less important and our offense becomes harder to cover.
I could be wrong but wasn't starks considered a good receiver coming out of college?
Receiving: Well-practiced receiver who physically looks the part. Used on swing passes, circle routes and in the slot from motion. Snatches the ball with his hands, adjusting to low and high throws. Will hold the ball loosely when trying to make a move in the open field. Some elusiveness after the catch, but is better running north-south than east-west. May be tried as a kickoff returner at the next level.
Entering his senior campaign, the Niagara Falls native has an opportunity to post some big time numbers, coming off a year in which he accumulated 1,333 rushing yards, caught 52 passes for 361 yards and scored 17 total touchdowns.
He was late to the party last year but don't be surprised if he starts going in motion this year.
