Bernman wrote:From the video it looks like he is kind of stiff and long-legged which gives him a real physical problem with coming out of his breaks. That means he projects to get beat deep a lot as a corner, and then short if he tries to compensate by backing off.

It's possible Ted drafted him as a safety though because of his size/speed combo and hitting ability, ala Nick Collins. I believe Collins was listed as a corner coming out of college, but Ted had different intentions. House would be better off not having to turn and run, or at least be given time to do so, while mostly running downhill.

Anyone know if Davon House has a twitter? I want to congratulate him.

Thanks everyone, I got him. Not sure if he will see my tweet though.

Shields is a fluid athlete, so I don't think the situations are comparable.

Obviously they aren't the same style of player, my point was the Packers defensive coaches did a great job with Shields, therefore House could end up being a very good player.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Teaching a cornerback how to turn his hips seems like one of those things that any secondary coach in the NFL should be able to do.

If it were that easy, his college coach could have probably done it too.

If every college coach could do it they would all be in the NFL. And Shields would have been lock down his senior year instead of progressing in GB.

Davon House - DB - GB - Apr. 30 - 1:44 pm et
Packers selected New Mexico State CB Davon House with the No. 131 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.
The last pick of round four, House is a draftnik favorite for his size (6'1/200) and speed (4.32-4.35 at Pro Day), and showed toughness by playing all of last year at around 70 percent due to a high ankle sprain. He was a four-year starter for the Aggies, picking off 11 career passes with three pick-sixes. House's knocks are his lack of ideal fluidity and the injury factor. In terms of being an NFL corner, he's still early in his developmental phase. Apr. 30 - 1:44 pm et

That's Tramon speed there.

I wrote NFL for a reason. There is no reason to think that the coach at NMSU is the same quality as our secondary coach.

Just another great pick. Size, speed, press ability. This kid will be good. I'd have liked him in the 3rd.

His college coach was actually a former DB coach for the Patriots, but that was only his senior year, he specifically mentioned saying he wish he got to work with him a little longer because it wasn't until his senior year that he got to work on actual technique, before that he was just out there covering guys.

Love this pick.

I just wanted to point out that House has long hair and thats awesome. I cannot overstate how important that is to our secondary.
