I like DJ Williams more than I did Quarles coming out last year, although Quarles had freeakish athletic ability

After watching a lot of clips of this guy, I'm shocked he fell to the 5th. He has hands and he has burst, height is the only drawback.

Jennings-Nelson-Driver-Cobb-Finley-Williams-Quarless-Grant-Starks-Green. Man, going to be fun to watch.

He was my #1 TE in the entire draft, though he's not really a classic TE. He's a move guy; you line him up in the slot, or as a FB, or flexed, and put him in motion. He's got real sneaky speed and very reliable hands. He commanded over/under coverage quite a bit and that opens up the outside, which is where Ryan Mallett made a killing.

Blocking is not his strong suit but I found the criticisms of it unduly harsh. He's not an in-line blocker but he reliably finds his target and engages with leverage and isn't bad. He has a lot of experience at crashing in on the OLB to seal the edge on an outside run and did so reasonably well.

He fell for a few reasons. He is short, but he also has a very friendly and docile demeanor and it does bleed onto the field. I liken it to Pau Gasol--you want more physicality more often but he doesn't back down if pushed hard.

IMO I think this is the end of Quarless, but I do get the "Finley insurance" angle too. Not so much for the payday he's going to demand, but the fact he's a player that is so heavily reliant on speed and he's coming off a bad injury. Some guys are just never the same and you don't know until they're back on the field.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

I caught the very end of DJ Williams on 1250 this morning, seemed like a nice kid. His comments on running into Sherrod at the combine were pretty funny, called him real "country".
