I really liked TT’s aggressiveness and breaking his typical strategy with the trade ups..
We got great talent but most have questions…

Perry has to transition to OLB. Before draft he had said he preferred to play 4-3 DE.
Worthy will play DT plenty but he also has to transition to DE. Has some “take plays off”.
Hayward is probably the most ready to plug & play.
Injuries = Datko, Manning, Daniels(who also lacks ideal size)
McMillian had legal issues.

Most likely none of these issues will hinder but also no slam dunk.

Re: McMillian, is it legal issue, or issues? I read about the one drunken run from the police in which he had slipped on the wet grass to get caught, but I'm not sure if that really qualifies as having legal issues? Between 18-20 y/o's old in undergrad, I recall such shenanigans being quite common place, even among the athletes of the school that I had attended. There is a pretty huge developmental leap between one's undergrad and professional life, and I'm not worried in the slightest about McMillian unless he has some history of manufacturing purple drank that I'm not aware of.

Regardless of how complete any of these players become, most will be able to serve a role immediately by providing pass rush (which generally was absent regardless of down or formation), contribute on special teams, or add solid depth. I'm interested in the DT's/DE's of the bunch, particularly as it applies to an added pass rush when we go to those 2 or even 1 down linemen fronts. With that, and considering how often our OLBs lineup on the LOS, I have no worries about Perry being 270. Hopefully it'll help him hold the edge on the run.

I cannot wait to be reading training camp updates.

Excited for the return of Alex Green, hoping for DJ Williams to make a leap and become a readily used receiving threat. I love the potential of a 2-te setup which would feature Finley/Williams, Jennings/Jordy. Lot of play makers out there. Randall Cobbinance will hopefully become further integrated into the offense. I seriously hope he gets numerous targets or touches per game.

Above all else, please may Raji not be average this year. I hope someone/something has lit a fire under his ass for this season. I think he was by far and away the guy that I was the most disappointed in last year.
You gotta make it sexy! Hips and nips, otherwise I'm not eating.

Once the Packers figure out how to get to the quarterback, their dynasty will be restored. The defensive front HAS to support the secondary in both the run and pass. 15-1 regular season without any semblence of defense is impressive. With this draft class, TT took a big step towards patching up this team's surprising weakness.

Unimpactful special teams? Bam...Randall Cobb.
Dead last defense....

I'll give TT and A on this one. I think he maximized all of his picks through deft trading and talent evaluation.

Kiper had good things to say. Check out the note on Manning. Most seem to think he's going to be another pass rusher as opposed to an ILB.

Summary: Green Bay sacked opposing quarterbacks on 4.28 percent of pass attempts last year. That was worse than the other 31 teams in the NFL. The Packers simply had to add to the pass rush. Nick Perry may not be the perfect profile as a guy who can fit their scheme, but one thing he can do is get up field and turn the corner. I still think he has some development left. The value was about right for my board. Jerel Worthy gets dinged for effort, but when he plays, the guy is Round 1 material. He could be a steal at No. 51. Casey Hayward is a nice little nickel corner and can handle slot receivers, something they really need in that division. The real steal for me is Terrell Manning all the way down at No. 163. He can shadow Clay Matthews and become a nice pass-rush threat for them. If you saw my draft guide book last year, I had Manning as the top OLB in his class. He fell a little this year, and had injury issues, but there's a lot to like. Nice draft for the Pack.

Manning is going to take Chillar's old job, from what I gather. He is definitely an effective blitzer, though. We'll probably move him all over the place at LB with his versatility. I LOVE that we have a guy that can cover athletic TE's though with the way the league is heading as far as 2-TE sets.

Dime defense of:

DL-DL
Clay-Manning-Perry
Shields-Woodson-Pepprah-Burnett-Hayward-Tramon

I could almost fap to that except I keep seeing Pepprah starting. :(

Toss House in there, remove Peprah, and move Woody to S?

Yeah, we saw a fair amount of snaps even last year with Peprah on the bench and Woodson basically playing up at SS.

Return to Green Bay Packers
