Ethan Allbright's letter to madden football regarding his low rating in Madden 07. Glorious.

A teaser if you are on the fence about clicking that link:

I was rated with a throwing power of 17 and accuracy of 16. Orlando Pace has a 22 power and 17 accuracy rating. Did someone at EA really put time into figuring out that Orlando Pace edges out Ethan Albright in both throwing power and accuracy? I will challenge him any day. My horrible passer ratings are of greatest misfortune to my son, Red Beard Jr. The poor boy is not only hideously ugly and covered by freakishly large freckles. He also has to suffer through playing catch with me and my senile-elderly-woman-type passer ratings. A session of tossing the pigskin usually consists of me missing my son by thirty yards in sporadic directions. I led him in front of a fire truck once and my wife kicked my ass. This is because of my 76 toughness rating. Yes, a 76 is far better than the other ratings, but I’m a **** lineman, damn it. NFL Linemen are considered to be synonymous with toughness. According to your game, I am a (Please Use More Appropriate Word), uncoordinated, pussy-ass **** that can’t fall on a kickoff, throw, or spell. I am, however, slightly better at manning up on a receiver than dropping into zone coverage. You lose your mind more and more each year, old man.

Image

John, you are such a **** dick. I also noticed that my kick return rating was a 0. I was rated a **** zero? So you feel that I shouldn’t even receive a 10, or even a 5? You are pretty much saying that I couldn’t even fall forward on a ball kicked in my direction. I would just stand there and let the ball bounce off of my **** face. **** that, John, I returned an onside kick 6 yards in 2002. You should have just slapped a – 4 on me and had the EA staff ambush me with paintball guns.

(spoiler) nothing like watching two players who can't play go at it in a pick fest!

Besides the pre-game presentation and updated menus, this does seem to be the same game. (*note - I think the same comment has been said for years, and, to date, I have been buying the game each year.)

Supposedly they've added a pretty nice physics engine. Can't tell anything from that video.

This will be the first Madden that I will not purchase. In 2012 Madden it often gets stuck in my franchise and create a player mode. Often I will start a franchise or create a player and go all through the season up until a point where it just will freeze every time I want to start playing my game. I created a player, had him on the Packers (WR) and he lead the league in receptions, TDs, and yards carried the team all the way to the SB and every time I tried to play the SB it would just freeze and not let me play.

None of that would matter if they would fix the online problems. The glitchers, disconnectors, and the players who can get away with running the same 2 plays over and over..refusing to punt and when they are about to lose they boot you so that you get the loss. Then the EA servers are ALWAYS down.

EA is spending all of their time trying to make the product appear better, rather than you know ACTUALLY MAKING IT BETTER. I don't care about the announcers too much because I can play with the music blasting and not listen to the actual game anyways. What I do care about is a guy can play as Cam Newton, RG3, Vick...etc and run around in the backfield forever until their man runs 60 yard streaks then somehow is able to turn and run back 30 more yards as Cam throws the ball across his body off his back foot and hits the player in stride. Too many things they need to fix and EA spends all of their time on the cosmetic stuff.

Looks like Madden 12 with a new presentation that they spent way too much time on instead of improving the actual game. Franchise mode will probably be left untouched minus new menus. Might be the first year since the 90's that I don't buy Madden.

Okay after reading about it a little more I guess they've revamped the whole career mode quite a bit. Just hope it doesn't suck.

I caved in and got Madden '12. Regret it. I really hope I have the self discipline to stay away this year.

Me too. Me too...

We should start a support group on this board (or really just work on making a well done roster update for '11).

I didn't buy last year's game and I'm going to stay away from this year's.

NCAA is the football game to get.

Except you can't tackle. Guys make 90 degree cuts without slowing down. Most annoying thing ever.

They made franchise mode much, much worse. Here are some things left out of Madden '13:

No full customization of rosters
No editing of players
No imported draft classes
No 32 team control
No fantasy drafts
No offline co-op play
No custom playbooks

I think that Madden franchise still is not as good as it was for ps2/xbox 1. Remember there you could set food prices etc...

Tons more flexibility. The game now is a joke. Kind of sad... with what they make off the game it cannot be *that* hard to expand upon it. That said I get addicted to MUT for a few months during each version so i'll probably still give them my $60 on a crap game :(

I took a two year break from Madden and then bought it again last year.

Last year convinced me to never buy one again.

Yeah, for some reason most of the 2nd gen sports games took out numerous features and instead focused on online or presentation. MLB 2K was the same way.

Havent bought Madden since '10, which I pick up and play every once in awhile.

I got Madden 12 just for the Ultimate Team which is pretty awesome. I did a good job keeping a majority of my team awful while getting a few greats on my team (Deion Sanders, Rod Woodson, Elite Rashad Mathis, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton & Fantasy Cam Newton) so my team rating would sit around 73-79 depending on how my team was constructed, and I would obliterate a majority of my opponents. I've never had much problems with the game but again with this years version that's all I really did.

After the draft they released rookie cards too for Ultimate Team so I picked up RGIII, Luck, Fleener and a few offensive linemen. By getting these cards you get to play with them and get a copy of that player on Madden 13, so I was seriously considering buying it just to destroy in ultimate team again, but with RGIII primarily instead of Cam, but as more time passes I see less and less reason to do so, especially since I already have these rooks on Madden 12.

I've tried the FIFA UT some but because my futball knowledge is extremely lacking I was constantly getting beat. My record is like 1-10. My madden 12 UT record last I checked was 100 games over .500, something around 150-50

That makes sense. I played UT in Madden 10 and now FIFA 12. It amazes me how deep the game is. I have 3 different teams right now. I feel there is so much customization due to the expanse of soccer. (Also, my record to start was like 1-6 and I consider myself a pretty good player, it takes awhile to get going)

Hardly related but this comment reminded me of playing FIBA tournaments in NBA Live 10. Holy crap. If EA somehow manages to produce an NBA Live this year I might have to get it solely for that reason, if it is included again.
