Jackson is a class act guy. Always welcomed here. I think this rumor is fake though. its a good fit but TT would never do it.

Thsi would be the best trade ever. In 2003.

The guy has 2200 bruising carries and has been a lesser player the last few years because of that pounding. He is on the block because his backup is avg almost TWICE as many ypc.

Count me out. Too many fantasy football GMs around here.

He is also terrible out of the backfield. His skill set doesn't match our needs.

I would MUCH rather have Spiller/Fred Jackson from Buffalo. They don't need both guys and they have a capable backup in Choice for whoever the keep.

I think CJ Spiller would be a god in our offense. Yes, I recognize he is not on the trading block but since we are spouting wild ideas we might as well run with them.

According to profootballfocus, the runblocking for STL is 21 in the league compared to our 27th. They don't disclose how they get to that number, but they are pretty good at their stuff. Now can Jackson get an extra yard a carry? Maybe but he will be doing it with a line that has absolutely no push. He would have to do it by himself, and he hasn't shown he could in STL.

In St. Louis he is essentially their only threat on offense. In Green Bay the defense would be focusing on Rodgers and the receivers. I think you have to factor that in.

ABSOLUTELY! Thank you. Also, the Rams lost Wells? Remember him? For those you that think the PAcker's O-Line sucks, there's is worse. Their most productive WR was Danny Amendola- he would be 5th or 6th on the Packers WR depth chart, he's been hurt. Kendricks (ex-Badger)is probably their best TE and he is nothing in the blocking game. Against the Packers D he averaged 4.8/carry. He also is a good blocker and capable receiver out of the backfield.

To summarize:

1. Jackson is their top offensive weapon-when he is in there they stack the line- it's almost always going to him
2. The Rams O-Line may be the worst in the NFL right now- 2 starters out, and one on the mend. They weren't very good when 100%.

For those of you that want to compare him against RIchardson - keep in mind they give the ball exclusively to Jackson on short and goal downs. Richardson has carried it 62 times with some big runs that skewed it a little. Richardson is more of a 3rd down type back- receiver/a bit of a surprise when he runs it. He's been pretty well shut down the last two games. He doesn't have almost double the /yd avg - more like 1.7/ for his 62 carries.

*To me Jackson looked clearly better then what we have- he didn't look washed up at all.
*He's averaged over 4 yds/carry 3 of the last 4 games (including 4.8/ versus Pack).
*Teams would not be able to stack the line and key in on him like they do with the Rams.
*As bad as the Packer's O-Line is they are better then the Ram's O-Line right now.
*Jackson has always been a player that gives 100% even on all those crappy Rams teams he's been on = that dude would have to be pumped to play on a true contender- may be his last shot?

** Wouldn't the Packers be getting a compensatory pick back if he left after this year?- that would minimize what they would have to send to the Rams as far as a Draft pick compensation.

Blount would get Rodgers killed he is the worst running back in the NFL at picking up the blitz, nice elusiveness though.

I think DeAngelo Williams makes the most sense when you factor in contract/production/skill/current team situation.

I follow the Panthers and will tell you guys Williams and Stewart both still have it, they both still have fresh legs they are just in a mess of a situation right now that keeps getting worse as the year goes on.

Pull the trigger if you can get him for a low pick. This is not really in Ted's nature though so I would not get to excited.

Sure would change the complexion of our running threat though.
Ball so hard.

I am a lot more interested in something like a 6th or 7th rounder for Chris Ivory than I am a 3rd or 4th rounder for Jax or DeAngelo.

What's the intrigue with Ivory? Has had some good outings this year, but doesn't seem like he would bolster our run game much at all.

He's only 24 and has averaged 5YPC over the course of 18 games (216 attempts) now. That's the type of guy I'd want to take a risk on considering he could end up being our solution at RB for 4-5 more years.

Probably cheaper, has produced in the past, and is still young.

Didn't realize his YPC was that strong. Interesting. If those numbers translate I would gladly give a 6th or 7th.

I'd like to see Cobb in the backfield more.

I think Cobb has grown into being our third best player and I love it when he lines up in the backfield. That being said I don't want to overdo it because of how small he is and how that can open him up to injury.

I do agree that we should line him up back there more than we do though. We should be getting him the ball as much as possible, IMO. Guy is one of the premier playmakers in the entire NFL.

Cobb takes bigger hits running the ball than he does returning kicks. I like getting him occasional carries but I don't need him upping his load or picking up ILB blitzes. Those occasional tosses and bubble screens are fine. It's of course tempting to want to give him the ball more on running plays -- the guy is clearly our best ball carrier. But he gets clobbered and we need him at receiver.

Cobb is the most dynamic receiver on offense. There's no way you want to expose him to many or any more run plays- as mentioned he is a little dude.
