I was on a similar thought process, not safety specific but a couple of the later guys are serious projects, now they could work out and in 3 years this draft could be an A but I would have liked a safety over a couple of those later picks.

If he is truly passed his migraine issues (IDK how that could be definitively determined) then he will very likely be a star for Seattle.

Still though, Chuckles is right, Percy shouldn't factor into Seattle's draft grade, just their offseason grade. Their draft alone was subpar, at best.

“I haven’t had a migraine in two years now,” Harvin said. “Been fully healthy from that aspect so everything’s been good. I’m going to knock on wood that nothing resurfaces but it’s been all great.”

Harvin was diagnosed with sleep apnea after an episode where he collapsed at practice during training camp in 2010. Harvin thanked Vikings owner Zygi Wilf and the Wilf family for sending him to the Mayo Clinic to be evaluated and to take care of him during his medical issues. With the diagnosis in place and knowing how to treat it, Harvin hasn’t had a migraine since.

I wouldn't count Harvin in the draft grade.

My position remains that grading any team's draft immediately after it happens is a meaningless venture with limited value.

Question for you: Would you rather have had Ted reach for a safety rather than draft someone who was higher ranked on his board?

I agree with this, 2-3 years minimum to evaluate a draft class typically.

I agree with this. I think SF and SEA are both very good teams. Going into the year I think they should probably be ranked 1 and 2 in the NFC in terms of chances to win the Super Bowl... but I really don't think the Packers are that far behind. In all honesty I would not be shocked at all if we were better than both of those teams.

With C being truly average, I'd give this draft a B-/C+. In other words it's a little above average.

What I like about it -

1. The RB's were steals
2. Addressed Needs
3. Quantity
4. Charles Johnson is intriguing

What I didn't like about it -

1. Preferred Sly Williams
2. Patton and Rodg would have been a match made in heaven, and they had numerous shots at him
3. Could have gotten even more and higher picks while trading down

chuckleslove wrote:BTW Jake, I did see your offer to take me up on that bet, I had just gone off to do some work and didn't get back and read it until later last night.

I am okay with an injury clause, but since I'm giving you two teams I would only say the bet is off if both Kaepernick and Wilson go down vs just Rodgers for me.

Not sure if you want to do a sig bet or put some actual money on it, I'm okay with either I don't think RealGM lets us discuss the latter on the forums but I'm definitely willing to put my money where my mouth is, I think the talk of SF and SEA being much improved/better than us is such an over-exaggeration.

I think a sig bet could be fun, something like winner gets to choose the other's signature for the entire offseason, then I could make you proclaim how awesome TT really is ;)

I'm down. Though, it's documented that I think Ted is a good GM. Just creepy as f.ck.

Agree with this. Would've like Williams, but even with Jones, I think if you replace Lacy with Swearinger, I think this goes from a so-so draft for me to a very good one.

No, but I would prefer he did his homework well enough where he found a safety and drafted him where he sat on the board.

If our Dline and LBs do what they are supposed to do then it won't matter because the pressure will help out the safeties. Outside of Burnett who is still questionable, we don't have a starting caliber safety on our roster. Can't fill all the holes though......maybe we sign Woodson for a 1 yr deal before training camp again.

So, you think the problem is Ted didn't do enough research into the safeties available. In essence, you're implying he passed over some safeties that were better than the players he drafted. Is that right?

Yeah, that Ted Thompson is a slacker when it comes to doing his research on players....
