The only thing I can say about Michael Sam is I am already sick of hearing about him. He's a seventh round talent who gets more coverage than any of the first rounders just because of who he sleeps with.

Shut up about it already. He's gay, he's a football player, we all get it. Now start covering football again, IMO.

I turned on ESPN to hear draft analysis and all I got was Michael Sam analysis. That's cool if it is a small portion of the show... But it dominated 75% of SportsCenter.

Dont worry they will be back to real time updates of "Johnny Football's" social life pretty soon.

Don't worry, I am just as sick of Johnny Football as I am of Michael Sam. According to ESPN they were the only two players drafted this weekend.

Pretty much. I watched mostly NFL network and even they were on those guys too much, not to the extent ESPN seemed to be though. Personally I wish I could watch the draft with Kiper, Mayock, Davis, etc., guys who just spend their life watching tape. Berman and Eisen can go since they seem to want to steer the conversation toward those 2 guys and Gruden because He just says "QB, QB (makes wierd face) QB."

Wait are people really saying that? The media **** loved/loves Tebow. Tebow, Manziel, Sam, 3 players who have gotten way more coverage than their talent/accomplishments deserve from a football standpoint. Anyone who says Tebow was hated on by the media is an idiot.

Love this yardbarker article that said the Packers failed miserably on day 3. I couldn't read anymore after they graded the Jared Abbrederis pick a D and said he might not even make the roster because the WR position is crowded. That writer needs to be fired.

Never heard of this site before but this is golden

Jared Abbrederis doesn’t address a need and is the classic case of Ted Thompson disregarding need and taking the “best player on the board”.

Taking the BPA is the wrong thing to do? What an idiot.

Plus that was about a 500 word article spread to 5 pages, terrible format.

I could see a scenario where Abbrederis doesn't make the roster... One where the guy we took in the 7th is amazing. But even then, my guess is we would keep 6 receivers.

I don't get why some people are all bent out of shape about us taking three wide outs. We were going with the guys we thought were the best players available. On top of that we just lost Jones... and Cobb, Nelson and Boykin are all set to be free agents.

We don't NEED receivers this year, but we might NEED them in the near future.

Isn't Abbrederis going to be our return man? That's one of the reasons I assumed we drafted him.

I don't think a 5th rounder is guaranteed to be anything. I'm sure he'll get a chance to return though.

Not sure if he ever did it, but they should put that small school kid at returner if he has any aptitude. 4.30 forty and presumably less concussions than Jared.

Abby is one or two solid licks on a punt return away from career over. Plus he a MUCH better WR than returner.
Please reconsider your animal consumption.

I see the possibility of keeping six WR as pretty high, especially without a standout pass catcher at TE. I agree though, Janis should be given first shot to return. He can run. I'd be shocked if Abby didn't make the roster though. I think our top 5 WR are already set.

6-9 may be a tad tall, but found this interesting nonetheless. I was saying to my buddy this weekend while watching the draft, I'd be using late round/UDFA picks on ex-basketball players to try and develop them into TE.

http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports. ... l-out-yet/

A number of college hoopers that saw their careers come to a close this season now have a chance to turn themselves into professional athletes on the gridiron.

Bruce Ellington, who was once a promising point guard on South Carolina, was picked in the fourth round by the San Francisco 49ers as a receiver. Demetri Goodson, who once won an NCAA tournament game at the buzzer for Gonzaga, was picked in the sixth round by the Green Bay Packers. He played cornerback for Baylor. Indianapolis is trying to land the next Jimmy Graham as they signed former Miami power forward Erik Swoope to a free agent contract.

Don’t be surprised if, in the coming days, you end up seeing more undersized power forwards without an NBA future turning to football.

One day, in particular, to keep an eye on is Tarik Black, the former Memphis and Kansas big man. As a senior with the Jayhawks, he struck up a random friendship with Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers, one that has Rodgers recruiting Black to join him in Green Bay. Black hasn’t been signed by an NFL team yet, but that’s not due to a lack of interest. He’s already committed to an NBA evaluation camp this weekend, according to a report from CBSSports.com, so he can’t commit to any individual team yet. He’s playing out his basketball options before resorting to football, it seems.

Rodgers knows a thing or two about basketball playing tight ends. Green Bay tight end Jermichael Finley doesn’t have the hoops pedigree of Graham, Antonio Gates or Tony Gonzalez, but he was a three-star basketball recruit coming out of high school.

Finley is no longer with the Packers are suffering a scary spine injury last season. Given Black’s lack of potential on the hardwood, maybe Rodgers has found a replacement at tight end after all.
