"I'm starting to get used to the 4-day's rest. My better command is the result of that. Before the Redwings game, I threw BP the day after a previous game. Before the Bisons game, I scheduled my BP to 3 days after a game. What I found out was that, instead of the American style (BP the next day), the Japanese style (BP 3 days after) seemed to be a better fit for my shoulder and arm.
For the Redwings game, my change-ups were good enough to strike batters out when I needed to. I was glad that I was able to stick to my new mechanics more. I even got to throw more than 100 pitches. I finally felt like I completed my job as a starter for the first time since I came to America.
For the Bisons game, when I was warming up in the BP, I felt I was in the best condition ever. However, my change-ups weren't as good as in the last game. Though my FB and sliders were close to what I threw in Japan.
After a few games in 3A, I feel that the batters here are almost as tough as the major leaguers. Maybe the biggest difference them (MLer & MiLer) is the environment they each work in. (Here Igawa talks about the road trips he had to take between ball parks.) I'm learning the hardships of a minor leaguer's life first hand. But then again, would I ever have gotten the chance to visit a small town near the boarder of Canada such as Buffalo? My approach is that I shouldn't dwell on the negatives.
In order to get back to my job in the ML someday, I believe I need to pour myself into the job at hand."
oh and NYTIMES :
IGAWA MAKES PROGRESS Kei Igawa pitched well again Thursday for Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, allowing one run in six innings to defeat Charlotte. Igawa is 2-2 with a 2.88 earned run average in four starts, with 27 strikeouts and 7 walks in 25 innings, and he could return to the Yankees soon.
