In pregame warmups, at least one Panthers official, and possibly more, carried black baseball bats on to the field and were motioning with them towards Odell Beckham Jr. while making comments to him, per a league source. Norman later grabbed the black bat and was swinging it in pregame warmups – which, by the way, an NFL Films camera captured. Beckham, according to another source, felt threatened and it helped put him in a certain frame of mind. It does not excuse what he did during the course of the game, but it does explain what led up to the battle that still is the talk of the league today.

A) it's stupid to bring a bat and there should some type of fine.
B)Not buying feeling "threatened. You're at your own Stadium which has police and security guards all over the facility not to mention the field. Basically other than a high target government building, OBJ was in the most protected facility in the country, not to mention he was in his home stadium. So if he's threatened by a bat in that situation, muggers would have a really easy time with him in New York.

What the hell were they trying to do with the bats anyway? The Pack should bring stuffed Cardinal toys to the game and rip them apart.

Panthers often use bat as symbol. If a player threatened Beckham with it that's overboard. If it's just an excuse then that's overboard too

I have zero idea why NFL security didn't step in earlier. Out of all the bull **** rules the no fun league has, you would think bringing anything close to a weapon onto the field would be a no no.

Meh, players, coaches and teams do metaphors with borderline weapons all the time and no one ever hears about...
