Like he can replace Bahk if necessary next year, but not strong or big enough to replace a guard.

Not to be a dick (completely being a dick) but aren't you an "urgency" type fan? Moving up for a possible impact player (even if it's more for 2017) is not something you're happy with?

Baktari and Clifton weren't supposed to play there first year either....

Nice. I was wondering if he could move to guard so we can keep our options option as to who we re-sign. I think we'll have options inside next year between Linsley, Tretter, and then sign one, maybe two of Bakh, Lang, Sitton.

My preference would be to go into next year with a line of

Spriggs
Bakh
Linsley
Sitton/Lang- whichever one we can get a better deal on
Bulaga

I'd love Bakh as a starting LG because the versatility he'd provide as a backup LT.

Am I though only one thinking Spriggs is Clifton 2.0?

Love this pick. Totally cool with moving up for him. This is an 'A' move from me.

Well, I take it more on a case-by-case basis, and no, you're not being a dick.

Frankly forgot we had two comp (EDIT, fourth I meant) rounders, so better with it now. Like the pick, just not enough really to trade up. Don't think he will be impact enough to trade up for (though again, I like him).

Although massive positive is he's about it with obvious decent chance to play LT fairly well left. You're looking at guard prospects mostly later.

Have to add, I think we're reaching a point where we have more needs we have to fill in the draft than in recent years past.

I will agree with this if the WR core doesn't pan out. Otherwise, DL (and the everlasting void at ILB) are the only needs.

Not if you're looking past next year, which is what TT rightly does. Multiple OL, TE, some combo of OLB/DE unless Perry/Jones finally take the jump...

I like one year FA deals because it really allows us to draft for a couple years away.

Well those holes are always there then. It's the nature of the NFL. Generally when talking about needs going into the draft your talking about pressing needs. Not so much needs two years from now even though it's always a concern which in fact this pick shows and fills

Yup, and TT has been successful going with a BPA philosophy and looking down the road. If he didn't there's no way you can rationalize taking Spriggs. But totally understand it.

Late 1st round picks and second rounders and down aren't likely to push contenders over the edge the next year. FA guys who want to win a title, such as Peppers a couple years ago, are.

Now, not necessarily advocating virtually ignoring a need (do I have to say the position) for like five years...

I've learned to let TT do his thing with the draft, I think this is a safe and smart pick. Basically your average TT pick
