I heard that rumor yesterday but there really is nothing substantial about it anywhere so I didn't post it. It was Sitton and Barrington getting into it and Sitton using a slur

Chmura now corroborating the non-PC angle. Probably not a slur though.

This would actually make sense. If it's something that has the potential to divide the locker room, better now than later.

Cajuste officially on the PS. Dude seems like a extremely legit receiving TE prospect -- the stuff here is much more impressive than anything I've seen from the young (read: non-Cook) move TEs they've brought in post-Finley.

Looks like we finally have a big play scatback that most of us have wanted for the last 10 years

Not sure how reliable this is but another person saying the cut was incident-driven

Weird, so the solution is to cut both of them? Sitton had to have alienated more than just Barrington for us to part ways so abruptly. This all is going to take a while to come out, and we may never know the full extent, but one can assume that there were some serious issues going on in the locker room to make the organization want to cut bait and avoid any possible distractions.

Yeah im hoping this is a false rumor and it was performance related or as you said there might be some big time interal issues with this team.

Id also be disappointed that the players and coaches couldnt get the issues worked out like adults and it had to come to releasing players that could help them on the field.

Could've been that they didn't want to be seen as taking sides in the locker room if they only cut Barrington. I could see there being a large number of Barrington supporters, for sitting the anthem, in the locker room considering the state of the country and that the demographic of the team is largely black.

Possibly, but I think any reasonable fan or player regardless of their politics would understand that if we're just talking football ability, then Sitton is higher on the pecking order than a backup ILB. Again, Sitton had to have rubbed someone other than Barrington the wrong way as well. I'm not basing this on anything other than pure speculation, but does this move happen if Rodgers is vehemently against it? We can form our own opinions, but I really don't think it does....

I agree that he probably rubbed more players then Barrington the right way. Like I said they probably didn't want to be seen as taking sides cause probably more then a few had Barringtons back.

Your right though a reasonable person should be able to see past all that and just deal with the guy who helps you win. The problem is most people aren't reasonable.

As for Rodgers we'll never know how he feels about it.

Definitely doesn't happen with Rodgers, or Nelson, Cobb, Daniels, etc. I could honestly see this issue involving a lot more people than just Barrington and Sitton, but based on contracts, age and depth, the organization decided to make examples out of these two to hopefully squash the problem before it escalates any further. If Sitton was 4 years younger do they make an example out of him? Probably not.

Don't know for sure, but the more likely scenario was that Sitton had a non physical altercation with management or perhaps McCarthy regarding contract....final straw for mgmt......but they will regret cutting Sitton because of ego or whatever it was. Barrington was cut because he was slow before the injury, after he had no chance.
