Lots of rumors of Notre Dame coming to Lambeau in 2020 maybe followed by Soldier Field in 2022.

As many turnovers as Stave had, I felt a lot safer with him.
That said, I'm intrigued by what Houston can do this year.
I think the point with Houston (and how I would have framed it last year) is that him getting the starts would have made him much more prepared for this season. As it is, he looked ok against a very good SEC defense with obviously a couple bad decisions. With Stave, he had proven over his first 3 seasons that he wasn't going to lead you anywhere as your starting QB.

Good timing. In 2020, my Badger fandom will be peaking after recently attaining a degree, plus Notre Dame is my most hated football team. I have a buddy who went there and is your stereotypical arrogant ass hole Notre Dame fan. Loved seeing them go down to Texas.

There was this crazy set of blinders put on fans about Stave because there was this perceived notion of "he sucks" when he stepped on the field. He was always average to above average in the college football ranks.
Did you happen to forget Stave's performances against Alabama, USC, @Ohio State as a sophomore (among other good games)? I think we're going to get very similar results with just a slightly different eye test. Houston has more zip on the ball but makes even dumber mistakes. Stave had a pretty steady throw that was just off the mark 4-5 times in a game.
He won the job over Bart Houston even under Paul Chryst. It's pretty clear who was better.

I've always wanted Notre Dame on the schedule but I would prefer a true home/home series. I think it would be great to have the Irish at Camp Randall.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Badger fandom, now? First Minnesota, then Marquette, and now Wisconsin? You can't go from being a fan of our two biggest rivals to a fan of our team! What's it gonna be, then? PckersBcksZgsGphsMqtUW?

I don't know where the idea that stave was a solid game manager came from. He was a turn over machine. He had 12 total TOs to 3 TDs in conference play last year. That's 4 turn overs for every TD. As a fourth year starter, with the softest conference schedule you could hope for. Over his tenure, he pretty much singlehandedly lost us multiple games, and several more we won in spite of him.
I respect that the kid was a gamer (he did have a few really great games, mainly under the lights in prime time) and gave his all, but he wasn't an above average QB overall.

You see games like Alabama and Ohio State and think Stave might not be horrible but then you see games like Iowa and Northwestern and wonder how he got not only a D-I scholarship but a D-I scholarship to a Power 5 conference school.

He botched his chance to move up to being considered a "pretty good" QB in his last season - but he had the worst OL/RB of any of the recent Badger QBs who were a cut above, so hard to say for sure.

What a freaking game that was. Awesome game to watch with other Badger fans. Hope the team doesn't get too high on this win though, because the heart of the season will be brutal.

Ha, yeah it's going to be an awkward transition. Still feels weird going to campus/class as a UW student.

This game really shows me why the team went with Stave last year. It's the conservative move. He was not a good quarterback, but he was smarter than Houston and didn't kill you. Houston was a more volatile option - he's not as bright, and he could throw a couple awful picks and kill you.
I still would have gone with Houston, though, because I think he's got a higher ceiling and can make throws that Stave can't or won't. But coaches tend to be more conservative when making decisions like that.
Bart is very intelligent, he was recruited heavily by Stanford as well. There are probably better schools in in upscale Cali than in Greenfield WI. Bart was the #12 recruit, Stave probably not top 200. Bart should have been starting as a Freshman, our teams would have faired better.
Bart:
Honors and Awards
2015: Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, Academic All-Big Ten
2014: Academic All-Big Ten
Fun fact, Bart played for De La Salle, the school that went like 151-0
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_La_Salle_High_School_(Concord,_California)
They made a movie about them - " When the game stands tall "
Bob Ladouceur was played by Jim Caviezel, and Bart played for him.
Catholic, a Academic School - So yeah, Bart is probably a 1st class character.

I think Houston has some pretty good arm strength. We'll see it in the coming weeks.
If he does, he didn't show it. I kept worrying about more picks as he floated passes to the sidelines. The LSU QB has a much bigger gun, but is inaccurate.

Still think the suspension was really weak but it seems like Boutte did apologize and settle things. Also cool that Dixon is mature enough to let it go. http://athletesinaction.org/underreview/what-happened-after-the-hit#.V9SK1YY8KnM
