I guess Whitehead left his kickoff lane and knocked a teammate out of his on that first touchdown. Cut today for a FB off the PS.

This was a good Xs and Os edition by Leroy Butler.

While the first video I agree with them that it was a nicely designed play and well executed with THREE WRs open and Rodgers missing all of them and throwing a terrible ball. That was all on Rodgers, horrible decision making.

THE SECOND video I totally disagree with Butler and Tom.

It's 3rd and goal at the 16, I don't like the idea of running 3 go routes at the 16 yard line, you run out of real estate really fast. That's a terrible call on 3rd down IMO. Plus the play has an open RICHARD RODGERS at the 6 yard line with 2 safeties staring at him daring him catch it. That's DICK Fíng RODGERS slowest TE on earth, you really think he's going to catch the ball and outrun 2 safeties to the endzone? Maybe Jared Cook has a chance to outrun those sitting safeties, but Dick Rodgers, hell no. I don't blame Aaron for passing.

And Monty is wide open underneath at the 15 yard line but at least 1 safety and 1 corner is going to reach TY before he reaches the 5 yard line yard line and it's 3rd down, I'm sure the defense doesn't mind giving up the underneath stuff, especially when they are in position to make the tackle short. Sure it's possible Ty makes 2 guys miss and fights his way to the endzone, and it is the best check down option for Rodgers to go to, but it is by no way a walk in TD. Yes Rodgers passed up 2 open guys but it was 3rd down and neither of those guys were going to get into the endzone. Dick probably gets tackled after gaining max 1/2 yard so gets to the 5. Ty probably gains 10-13 yards and maybe makes it an interesting 4th down between the 2 to 4 yard line. But It is an example of a less than ideal play call on a 3rd down. Either throw it up on a 50/50 ball in the endzone, or throw a checkdown to ty and hope he somehow breaks a couple tackles on his way to the endzone. Leroy is correct Ty was the correct read but Aaron threw it to a covered Nelson, but I don't like the play design at all for the down and distance.

Although it's kinda funny this is almost the exact play we run in flag football on 1st down, just opens up the crossing WR underneath and allows us to get a bunch of YAC on first down. We've never even dreamed of running this kinda of play in the redzone, but its a good 1st down play.
