I don't know how players can function in weather this cold. My hands would be frozen in just a few minutes, much less being out there for hours and crashing into bodies.
If this game was being played in Green Bay, you'd have to pay me at least 1000 dollars to attend this game and maybe even that wouldn't be enough.
Yeah. The coldest game I've ever attended at Lambeau/Camp Randall was a game where it was a high in the low 20s and lows in the teens, and I was cold as ****. But I made it and still had a good time. But this? **** that. I was walking a couple blocks to my car last night when it was about 5 degrees outside with below-zero windchills. I was bundled up with a sweater, a hoodie, and a jacket, hat, gloves, and scarf, and I was still trembling and miserable by the time I got to my car, and I'm generally not a cold person. I don't know how these guys run out in a uniform that doesn't offer that kind of insulation and play for 10-15 minutes at a time. I mean, I know physical activity helps to warm you up, but with exposed skin and a terrible wind chill, that just sounds awful to experience.
I was at the Packers 49ers game a few years ago and if you have the proper gear its really not that bad. I had a fleece sweatshirt, down vest, and down hunting jacket with long underwear top and pants along with fleece sweatpants and the down hunting bibs. We walked from the car to the stadium and I was sweating and I didn't even put the gloves on because the sleeves were longer and I was radiating so much heat. You're also so packed in with everyone in the bleachers and that helps a lot; it's cold sure, but it's not as bad as you would think. Now playing in the game is a different story, I can't even imagine how cold that would be.
Yeah, was at the 2007 NFCCG. Went there astronauted out. It's all about layers and handwarmers (throw some in your shoes too), so it wasn't all that bad, but I wouldn't do it again simply based on what a pain the ass it was to dress that way.
For players, I'd assume running around helps, and they're out there for a few minutes, and can run back to the heaters when their drives are over.
