Where did you hear he DIDN'T want to join our PS?????

I always thought they didn't want to load up too many WRs on the PS and took Clark over Dupre. Did Dupre actually reject a PS offer?

This tweet seems to imply that.

I totally bought into the draft and development model of roster building and have completely backed the logic of not signing free agents, or only rarely signing free agents, and instead relying on our own guys. I have argued with other fans who wanted General Manager Ted Thompson to acquire more players from other teams and even repeated one argument about certain players not wanting to play in Green Bay so there was no sense in complaining about them not being signed.

Now in the last forty-eight hours or so we have signed two veteran free agents, claimed another player off waivers, and traded away one of our veteran players who I thought was being groomed to be an important part of the outside linebacker rotation. This after we signed five other free agents earlier this year. We are no longer going to be one of the youngest teams because many of these guys are in their thirties.

I have lurked on this site for years because I think there are quite a few knowledgeable posters, so I have got to ask, what is going on in Green Bay these days when it comes to adding all of these players from other teams and letting our own players go?

Remember these guys who got cut, and we picked up don't hurt our standing in the compensatory draft pick formula. Also, 10 draft picks is a lot for a veteran team trying to win a superbowl. It's going to be hard to get them all to stick, you really are happy if you get 4 diamonds in a draft, Ron Wolf used to say that.

I think you'd struggle to list 4 diamonds in each of the last few drafts that are on the 53, so he's making moves to shore up weak spots with cut guys. Probably a better move, than shoring up a weak spot with a UDFA who's working at a car wash and not nearly NFL ready.

Thanks. I still don't know if that means, the packers never offered him a spot, and so he's looking elsewhere to help salvage his career OR he rejected the packers PS spot and is looking elsewhere because he doesn't think he can crack the top 6 or get into the top 5 to make the 53 and wants a better opportunity.

So how good was the 49ers defense? Since we picked up half of it, I'm curious now. (although Francios was a few years ago). Feeling better about ditching Guion and replacing him with Dial.

To the TT and MM bashers I simply say: try being a Bucks fan. I complain about TT and MM when it is deserved. BUT, hell hath no fury like loyalty to the Milwaukee Bucks organization. Packers fans just don't know - as a general rule of thumb - how good they have it and how spoiled they are.

Despite his faults I have stuck up for Ted way more than I have bashed him up until recently.

His last three drafts have been pretty bad and that is eventually going to hurt us. I like Kenny Clark but that's about it. I get it's early on this draft but so far it looks awful. 2013 and 2015 were awful, 2016 looks bad except Clark, and this year looks just as terrible. 2014 was good but 1 out of 5 isn't going to get it done.

I like Clark, but I think Dean Lowry is going to go full Beast Mode this year. People forget how good he looked this preseason before he tweaked his knee.

I agree on lowery. He was playing pretty well down the strech last year too. He's the prototype 5 technique which is something they've been lacking.

I have really high hopes for the dline as a whole. If they are disruptive and taking up multiple blockers it will make the linebacker play look so much better.

How long do you think it will take for all the new guys to jell on defense?

I am still trying to digest all the changes that took place before Brooks, Odom, and now Dial joined the team. I just can't recall so many changes being made to the defense in just one season and it seems so different than the past few seasons.

Where is the TT thread? I have a hot take. If we don't have one I will gladly start it but don't want to duplicate...
Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die.
