Great play call on the fake punt. Was just about to complain about the bears playing it safe

I was conflicted watchi \ng that game because i wanted the Bears to win, but didn't want Trubisky to look really good and give Chicago the chance of finally solving their QB woes.

Trub looked good. I hate saying it, but he did. Hiccup on that pick, but I thought he looked solid... Especially his first start and how horrid he's looking previously in a Bears uni. I want to puke. I needed that pick to get me a FF W so he's earned some good will. Its super early, but no matter what you trade, if you get yourself a franchise QB you got a deal.

... Even if you did so to move up one pick with a team that wasn't gonna take him and nobody else in there right mind was moving up for that selection at that pick...digress.

He completed less than 50% of his passes, had a pick, and his TD should've been another pick. QB rating of 60. He was awful.

If not for the hype, people would say he looked like every other scrub the Bears have run out there recently.

Yeah, not sure how he looked good.

He looked terrible, but obviously there is room to grow.

I don't think he should be playing. They might have the worst receivers in the NFL.

Compared to most Bears QBs for the last 30-40 years he looked good I guess?

It's a shame when your QB goes 12-25 for 128 yards with a 1:1 TD to INT ratio and you feel your QB position is trending upwards.
The three QBs combined for 304 yards, 2 TDs, an int, and a safety. YIKES!

I just think you're a lot better off developing the way Rodgers was. That's a lot easier to do when you are starting Brett Favre but I've read many times over that Rodgers was not ready to play.

It's so common that even if they play well their first year they usually experience a drop-off when the league adjusts to them.

I don't see him gaining much at all from playing now when the offense will (should) be drastically different in the future. They have nothing in place besides a running back. He is better off learning from a safe spot on the sidelines right now, not letting doubt grow in his head.

They rushed him in and I don't get why. They aren't going to win this year, period. Even watching the game against the Packers, Glennon threw a lot of passes that NFL receivers need to catch, he got absolutely no help from them. They beat Pittsburgh and nearly beat Atlanta. I don't get the panic mode thing at all unless Coach Leno thinks he's getting fired.

I guess I'm quantifying that he looked good based on development standpoint. He made some throws and some plays with his legs that looked like real nice building blocks. Like all green prospects in any sport I look for glimpses. He showed them.

Trubisky looked fine considering the lack of talent around him. The only real way to learn how to play QB in the NFL is to play. If he had a HOF QB to watch and learn from that's one thing. But not Mike Freakin' Glennon. Manning set the NFL rookie record for INT's and his team lost 13 games. Aikman threw 18 picks in 11 games his rookie year. Would those 2 have turned out better had they not played their rookie seasons? Trubisky may turn out to be a bust but there's no harm in letting him play.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

You very well may be correct with Trubisky but I think there is definitely a risk in throwing someone into the fire. Some guys can handle that and some can't. I definitely think there are players who could have made it in the pros, in any sport, who don't because there is too much expected of them too soon. Sometimes the stars just align for some guys.

I think Rodgers's career arch is drastically different if he's drafted by the Browns and starts immediately. Talent sometimes has a lot less to do with who succeeds than people believe. Everyone is so good at this level, the environment can matter a great deal. Peyton is an all-time great who would have thrived anywhere, but I think there are many guys out there, the Leafs etc. that could have made it if they had been groomed.

This is discussed briefly in Gunslinger, there are a couple guys in the Packers organization who remark that Rodgers was flat-out not ready for the NFL his first couple of seasons.

He did and his best play was actually an incompletion where he rolled out and fired an absolute dart on the move that was broken up. There's something there, but we've heard that before.

Trubisky looked pretty good to me from a tools standpoint as well.

Just like DeShaun Watson right now, who has now had a few good games in a row, I wouldn't be surprised if he was average/bad for 3 more seasons and out or if he became the next Dak Prescott or other great rookie QB as the season goes by.

That's more that can be said than after watching Gabbert and guys like that early in their career. Those guys didn't seem to have it very early. Trubisky at least passes the eye test that it looks like he can get the job done but we won't know for a while.

One reason sitting Rodgers helped him was they reworked his mechanics. I don't see a need to do that with Trubisky. To me he needs to play and get game reps under his belt. His biggest weakness coming into the league was a lack of reps in college since he sat there for a couple years so sitting on the bench watching Glennon suck won't help that. As long as he's not getting killed or looks completely overwhelmed the Bears should play him.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.
