Morgan Burnett, Jahri Evans, and Corey Linsley are starters who will also be free agents after this season. You have to imagine that they'll try to bring back Burnett, for as much as they like Brice, he's not as good as Burnett, yet. Evans could come back on a cheap deal if he's still playing well. I would be fine with them moving on from Linsley, as I think he snaps the ball poorly and consistently gets decimated at the point of attack by defensive tackles.

Then you have the 2019 guys you will have to sort through - Clay, Cobb, Jordy, HaHa, Kendricks, Rollins, Montgomery, Ryan, Hundley and Ripkowski - along with RFAs in Hawkins, Brice, and Evans. Of that group, you'll likely prioritize HaHa and Ty - with a long look at Kendricks, Ryan, Hundley, and Ripkowski. Clay, Cobb, and Jordy are all key pieces, obviously, but with deficits that could justify moving on.

Lots of moving pieces coming up. I would be comfortable with extending Adams if he keeps up his play, but we're also getting into that go-for-it range with Rodgers that might justify a lot of aggressive signings.

I'm not a Linsley fan at all but I'm not sure what the alternatives are. We don't have anyone who can step in and be a good center as we did in the past (Tretter). And although Linsley started as a rookie I wouldn't count of finding a starting center in the draft. All signs point to Linsley being back and I'm not thrilled about it. But to get back on topic it's so hard to handle the cap in the NFL. So many players. Structuring contracts to best benefit the team. Figuring out years and guaranteed money. Russ Ball is suppose to be one of the best. There's been talk of Ball being the next Packers president but he's only 4 years younger than Murphy.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

TT likes to hold onto cap space during the season but I think once we get to December he will use a chunk of it and get Adams extended. Maybe he waits until the offseason. But I don't see Adams hitting the market.

They renegotiated with hawk once but thats the only example I can think of.

On the center topic mccray and patrick are both possibilities at c or guard next year.

You're right, Hawk. Forgot about that.

I do think they bite the bullet and pay 3 receivers 10+ million for one year. They follow the Bucks plan of continuity.

This is your weekly reminder that Rodgers is highly underpaid and needs a new contract.

Probably happens after 2018. I could see it as a good-natured gesture after this season, but the cap space likely isn't there. Maybe he can take less in '18 and get a giant extension for '19-'22 or something like that.

The moment the ink dries on his next contract/extension in GB he will still be incredibly underpaid. He's probably worth $60 million/year but he'll probably get $25-30.

Clay clearly is no longer the player he once was, but the team is really lacking pass rushers besides him and Perry if the 3-4 stays in place.

I think Rodgers gets a new deal after this season. I don't think they wait until after 2018 season when he'll have just one year left.

I've been down on clay the past few years but I think he's been pretty solid this season. He's not the explosive playmaker he once was but has morphed into a pretty complete OLB. I wouldn't mind a restructure where his per year amount goes down a little but they tack on a couple years.

I've also been on the Claymaker is OVERPAID wagon for a year or two.

But he has been effective this year (so far). Nice article about Capers moving him around a bit sunday.

http://www.packersnews.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/silverstein/2017/10/10/silverstein-clay-matthews-making-impact-packers-beyond-sacks/750484001/

If we can figure out how to use him to keep him around and make impact plays at big moments like we kinda used Peppers to keep his career going, I'm OK with that. Find a way to keep him and maybe reduce his snap count so he can survive the season but still make a difference, and if he can take a bit of a discounted salary for his age. That would be ideal.

Guys like Clay are really hard to find, so even if he's been overpaid I don't think you can just let him go. I also think that might ruin Perry's productivity.
